This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
The lowest I've seen regular unleaded gas around here is 2.26.
Hey, good deal about getting to ride again. It'll feel good for you to be back in the saddle again. I know I'd sure miss it if I'd been away that long.
Indeed.... good deal :~)
Glad you get to ride again!
Horses fighting over ecurbh on the way out.
I submitted this one, and the next one to the Horse.Com ad contest as an ad for Weatherbeeta blankets.... We'll see... her blanket is still pretty new, Bay's and the pony's look old. Heck, they are old, but they're still in good shape. Pony's is going on 4 years and she wears it all winter (Bay's top one is 3 years old). That's a good blanket!
Big hay pile for a small pony :~)
And one artsy shot across the frozen pasture :~)
Nice shots, as usual .. Looks like you can see frost on their whiskers, or it could just be light reflectons
Brrrrrrrr! Those look cold! Gives me a chill just lookin' at 'em. I really like the artsy one. Looks like you ought to see snowshoe rabbits hopping about in there.
I'm thrilled :-) My first dressage trainer is running a clinic on Sunday that I might go and spectate. If I go, I'll take pictures.
"Well I read your exchanges on the horse.com forum, and he sounds like an insuferrable, bombastic know-it-all jerk."
"This guy is a dope on a rope."
LOL Don't hold back, tell us how you really feel.
I would bet the farm that Guido has only been riding a short time and I was going to ask him that very question but I got another warning. I'm being threatened with a 3 day time out. Guido got the same warning.
Looks beautiful!
My area just got put under a winter storm watch. The warning is just a few miles west of me. Not looking good.
Snow, or sleet, or freezing rain? Or all of the above?
2J said you guys are getting ice, hope you and yours can stay warm!
That's cool. With the job and working the horses, you are going to be one busy girl.
"Guido"... I love it! Cracks me up every time. When I went to horse.com to pull his comments, I noticed that he was online. He must not be a very busy "trainer" at all. Why isn't he out there with his beloved "SIS"?
Then I lounged him. You guys were talking about geldings behind studly. With Bodie only been gelded for about 2 years and prior to that, he was used as stud, I doubt, that I will be able to turn him out with those mares. The trainer said he didn't act that way at all, but that could have been because there were solid walls between horses. Here we have bars and there is more contact.
Freezing rain, mostly.
Clinic pictures would be great! Sounds like a fun weekend.
Can you say "Guido Garguilo" 3 times fast?
I think he's on some other forums that I may have to register with. I'm going to use a different tact, though. A fawning teenager ought to be fun.
He reminds me of a guy that showed up once on a Barbaro thread. He jumped into the middle of the discussion and said "I'm a HORSEMAN and I'm here to tell you the only reason they are trying to save that horse is for artificial insemination." Of course about 20 people jumped all over him since ai isn't allowed in TB breeding. I said, "you blew it on this one. If you are going try to pass yourself off as a 'horseman' better make sure your information is accurate." I didn't get a response.
You might be surprised, he's probably overly curious about them now because they're new and he hasn't been able to have full contact with them. When you've got your big pasture opened up and lots of space, they might be fine together, it might just be a little nail biting for the first several minutes.
