The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Oh just really good music. Almost all the songs were ones that are in the Rod Stewart albums I told you about. The coach was Tony Bennett.

Ah - well we’ve got new episodes of Deadliest Catch tonight on Discovery... it’s about Alaska crab fishermen, we love this show.

Mack has gotten hooked on that show. I watch it off and on. It’s kind of like bull riding for me...I feel like we are watching, just waiting for someone to get swept overboard, hurt, killed. I don’t like doing that.

There’s a little bit of that, it’s dangerous, certainly...

I wonder if they have more applicants for jobs since the shows been on, or less :~)

There’s a little bit of that,

Maybe not on your part, but I'd say that is what most people are waiting for. What else would make it so interesting...it's just the same thing over and over, watching men throw the pots over board and hauling them back in. I could see one season being interesting to watch but after that it's just repetitive stuff.

Mack said he heard/read that the camera men that go with the boats say it's the scariest assignment of any Discovery has sent them on.

Heh... I watch to see them make it through rough storms, not get capsized in them - and it’s neat to see how much $$$ they make in sometimes just a few days. It’s the adventure of it :~) And I like the Search and Rescues they do show.

I’m sure it is scary for the camera men.... They’re just as stuck on those boats as everyone else.

We didn’t hear a thing... and I’m insulted... I thought we put together a good enough package to at least get a call.

Hey! We went to Trav’s Wild Wild Weather Show last night at the Whitey Ford sports complex.

It was great...lots of fun, but the best part was eating at SCOTT’S beforehand! I told them you’d suggested we eat there sometime, having never eaten there in the 8 years we’ve lived here. They all said “Ohhhh!” when I mentioned your name and nodded and smiled. You must give them good business.

Anyway, they were absolutely excellent burgers. I got the worst indigestion from it, but nobody else did and I suspect it was because I was overly excited about the weather show and shut my digestive system down.

LOL!
They seemed appalled that it had taken us 8 years to finally eat there!

Scott’s is a Bixby tradition...I’m surprised it took you 8 years.

They are great burgers, but will give you indigestion...rather greasy. I most generally just get the kiddie burgers, the regular ones are just way too much for me.

The people at Scott’s have become good friends of ours since we bought the building next door. They all get their hair done, and tan at Jenny’s shop, and Glenda, the owner, husband is one of the men that come by Mack’s office every day and sits around and visits:).

We haven’t been eating there much lately, we are both dieting:\, but we still go over there and visit regularly.

We stuffed those burgers down in about 15 minutes because we were in a hurry to get to the show. (Matthew ate 2 of those kiddie burgers!) I ate a regular all the way burger with cheese.

Urp.

I kept the fries...gonna eat ‘em with some chili for lunch!

Plop plop fizz fizz.

Yes, she is, her shop is closed on Sun. and Mon. The rest of the week she is open from 10-6.

If you go be sure to tell her who you are. Tell her 2J, she won’t know your name, sorry:)

Ok! We might swing by there this afternoon.

Great gravy, the traffic was terrible into town yesterday!! Once that get the intersection fixed, it’s going to be really nice, but what a mess right now!

I’m really looking forward to the Popeye’s opening up across from Albertsons. Mmmmm! Popeye’s is my favorite chicken.

I’m excited about the new conference center and Hampton Inn too...seems like the area is really booming!

Well, I might see you down there then. I keep Tucker, her baby on Wed. morns. and am bringing him back to her in the afternoon. I usually hang around most of the rest of the day. Mack and I are planning on watching some “Lost” down there today.

Great! It’s practically carved in stone...the boys have been notified of impending hair cut.

;-)

See ya in a bit then!

I’ve never ate Popeye’s.

I don’t know, I can’t see a convention center and hotel working in Bixby.

And honestly, I hate seeing the area boom...I like the small town feel of it. But I think my side of the river will always feel that way. I don’t think it will grow much over there, and north of the river feels more like Tulsa anyway:)...I hate crossing the river:)
