The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Oh, they look great...I'm surprised you put your tack on Bay....is he done shedding:)

That is great about Cyn. You probably don't ever have to worry about her, good horse.

So you all planning on going to the park the first day it opens?

Becky

I did put tack on Bay... No he's not done shedding... He's a mess :~\

Cyn's great... real thankful for that.

The trails open on a Sunday... I think it might be a mad-house. I'm excited to go, but we may wait till Monday. Not sure :~)

The store owner is pissin' me off. Last weekend we went and hauled in gravel to smooth the edge of the pavement to our driveway so it's nice and easy... no more big bump there for the horses when backing the trailer in and out.

OK - so he just piled a bunch of dirt on it.

And he intends, I think, to put down those square plastic pallets (pictured at the far left of the picture) for like a walkway along is wonder-when-he's-ever-gonna-finish-it fence. I told him he can't make the driveway any narrower than he already has with the 'fence' post (right behind the guy in the red's head)... that , we have to be able to back the horse trailer through there.

He's like "don't worry, I make it smooth - make it real nice..."

He's digging out to put the pallets down so they're even with the pavement. I don't think I'm supposed to drive on those pallets, so I think he's in effect making the driveway 3 feet narrower.

Just a pain in the butt... it's right on the line of whose property it is.

I just went out there and talked to him, asked him if I could drive on them, told him the horse trailer weighed 5,000 pounds. He says "they're very strong, see? and jumps up and down on them"

School was long tonight. I think I'm still tired from my trip. Maybe you should test those things:')

I just had Mack look at this and he said you will be fine driving on them...

That's funny he jumped up and down on them to show how strong they are:)

So did he ever explain WHY he suddenly is putting these in...is that a problem spot for him? Isn't that where the trash truck comes in at? If the trash truck can drive on them you sure will be able too.

The trash truck doesn't go right there, he's moved the dumpsters over and they have a gate. He's putting in a fence along the side of the store and right about behind the tree there's a small gate. I think he wants a nice sidewalk to that gate. I'll take pics when it's light out :~)

Good morning everyone!

Everybody looks great in the horse pics! Cyn sure is shaping up to be a nice-looking girl. Ecurbh always looks so relaxed when he's on her. They're a good fit for each other.

That's aggravating about TheStoreGuy. Just when you get something fixed the way you like it, somebody has to come screw it up. I wouldn't worry about driving on those pallet things. They look pretty sturdy, but if they break it ain't your problem.

All she needs is a little smack now and then to keep her snottiness in check, but she really is a gem under saddle. :)
