The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Great pictures! Thanks for posting them. Tuffy is a true "snow cap". Did you see those great articles in Appaloosa Journal about colors? He looks awesome and grew into a beautiful horse.

The banquet was nice with good food, but you talk about a long drawn out affair. Someone really needs to take charge with moving things along. My daughter is a director next year, so maybe she can put the fire in the system. Alison did great with a 2nd in Walk-Trot Horsemanship, 3rd in Walk-Trot Showmanship, 3rd in Walk-Trot Pleasure and a 5th in Walk-Trot Egg & Spoon. We are so proud of her, for her first year.

Here she is getting her "stuff". A nice trophy, jewelry bag, bridle bag and a folding canvas table. The Queen is the daughter of the lady who owns "Andy" the horse Alison used.

MS is microsoft. If you have a mac, you might want to check the Mac webpage for info on that.

You should know enough about horses, to be able to chose one suitable for your level. What is this 2nd and 3rd level anyways? Dressage? Going in with someone could be complicated. Will you have a written agreement? Is the cost of horses and boarding very expensive in your area?

Hey there Miss Targets, sorry I didn't get back to you, yesterday was pretty crazy. 2nd and 3rd level... that's a dressage thing... basically what's important is that I've been riding for 14 years, and I know plenty about horses because I've been working with them for as long as I've been riding them. And actually, I'm concerned because the person that I'm supposedly going into this with doesn't know much of anything.

And yes, I plan on having a written signed and notorized agreement. ;-) I've learned that with verbal agreements, people "forget what they said." Board can get pretty darn expensive around here, but my trainer is pretty reasonable. Anywho, I have to be off, because I have to get to the barn this morning. I can't get off my butt though, because my body is still an hour behind.

Good Morning.

My computer and digital cable box "sprang" forward.

I hope, no one had any problems.

Wonder why?

Pretty nice day today. Except for the big piles, the snow is gone. Time to clean up all the frap, the snow had been hiding.

Nothing here changed...but it all still works. Mack will change them manually I guess.

It's raining and dreary here today. I'm getting ready to go to town for the evening. We have a DVD player down there and started watching the first season of Lost last week. We are going to watch some more this afternoon, sit and watch the rain, and do nothing:)

Well I knew you were a Lost fan:). We hadn't ever watched it but have heard a lot about it so we thought we would try:)

We've watched the first 4 episodes of the 1st season. So far I like it pretty good, I'm just wondering tho about what is "out there"...I'm hoping it's not something alien, or off the wall....they'll loose me if it is...I'm not much into scifi. And why/how did the guy that was in a wheel chair suddenly start walking after the crash??? Inquiring minds want to know:)?
