The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I have 2 that need ridden too. Josh and I were going riding this morning. I don't know though now. I either got some food poisoning or a stomach bug and have been puking all night. I'm 75% better this morning but I don't want to overdo it. May wait until tommorrow. I did a lot of eating out yesterday and was naming places to my husband that I never wanted to go to again. He grinned and said that will pass too.

I'd rather have any sickness in the world besides throwing up. That is absolutely the worst.

Good Morning.

We are going to one of the horseman's organizations banquet, this evening. Alison won some year-end awards, so she is very excited.

Have a great weekend!

Don't forget to "Spring" forward.

There's been a few news stories about how lots of things that are programmed to change time automatically, like computers, may not.

Daylight savings time is being extended one month this year. Three weeks early this spring and 1 week later in the fall, after Halloween. I'm glad, I hate standard time.

If you are running MS, it should have been updated.

I don't like or dislike either one...I just think they have it backwards...

It gets dark so early in the winter. IMO, that's when we should be on daylight savings time, not in the summer. That's what makes winter so hard for me to get thru, it's always dark:), I'm always ready for bed by 7:30-8:00 cause it's been dark for several hours by then.

LOL....

I don't know if we run MS or not....at home we have a Mac, at the office Mack has the other kind:)...

I'll just tell him, and he can do what ever we need to or not.

I just love long summer days, short winter ones really get me down. I'm like you, I'm ready for bed at 7:30 in the winter.

If the software has been kept up to date, it may know about the change... otherwise, change it manually, before it blows up :~)

It is ok to disagree with what your trainer suggests. After all it is your money. You should know enough about horses, to be able to chose one suitable for your level. What is this 2nd and 3rd level anyways? Dressage? Going in with someone could be complicated. Will you have a written agreement? Is the cost of horses and boarding very expensive in your area?

If you will not be showing, then I would suggest you take a look PETFINDER here. Somehow the link won't go to the horse pages, but just put "horse" in the search. There were some pretty nice ones there and you would be giving a horse a home, at a fraction of the cost.

I love the daylight at 9pm days. I just wish they would pick one and quit changing.
