The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I'm sure you know this, but with just 3 spaces you are better off to do it yourself. Most strippers have a minumum, Mack's is $350.

You can go to Sherwin Williams and get traffic marking paint in a spray can, and a little roller you can use to put it on with. The roller would be a one time expense, and a can would last you a long time with just 3 spaces. A lot less then the minumum charge. Of course if we lived there, Mack would probably do it for nothing, since it's you:)

Possums are nasty little creatures. I see them occasionally out back at night eating the bird seed that is on the ground. They can be pretty mean too.

Thanks. I plan too. I'm thinking about marking it with masking tape. It's just 3 or 4 lines. Shame that I even have to though.

The Walmart spray paint I have won't work?

Mack is standing here and telling me to tell you no the Walmart paint won't work, and it will eat up the asphalt.

Go to Sherwin Williams and get a quart of Latex traffic marking paint and a 4 inch roller. The stripes are 4 inches wide. Just roll them on.

The walmart stuff won't stay down.

Sherwin Williams is the best, but you can get traffic marking paint at Lowes too.

Just an FYI:)

I'm so glad it's not Mack and Charlie . . . so I don't have to ask, "Which one of them is wondering what's not quite right?"

My school has the word "Center" The sign company put up the letters and spelled it "Centre" I thought it was cute but they were embarrassed and came out on a Sunday and fixed it. The guy said someone was selling oranges and....:')

I had to rescue an opossum of our trash bin once, because my mother and my big tough "I-have-testosterone-hear-me-roar" brother were both too chicken to rescue it themselves. It had wrapped itself in a bread bag and had partially suffocated itself. So I took a pair of big thick work gloves and shook it out of the bag and it was still laying there so I tipped the barrel over. Well I had turned around at this point, and the impact must have revived it so I heard a frenzied skittering, and I didn't know where it was skittering to (i.e. towards me?) so I jumped about two feet in the air and hit the ground running. I couldn't get my legs to work fast enough.
