The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Licensed Vocational Nurse. Same thing. Just depends on what part of the country you are in. A lot are going thru the back door this way to RN school because the competition is too high. Honestly, I think they make better nurses this way. They get way more clinical.

Yeah, I would think that they'd be better nurses that way too. I would think they'd get more hands-on training by doing the grunt-type work early on, then going on to get the book learning later.

Well, speaking of real life and nurses, I'm fixing to go over to the blood drive they're having at the main plant gate and give blood. I haven't done it in quite a while, so keep your fingers crossed for me that I get a nurse that knows how to do a decent stick. I HATE it when they just stand there and dig and dig and DIG!

Later....

Oh the thought makes me want to pass out.... I've given blood before, but I can't watch... I'll be sick :~\

The latest scuttlebutt from over at the store is that it was not a propane truck, but a septic truck that turned over and took out a pole. Eeeewwww...

Hair is going to really be pissed, she missed a heck of a cliffhanger for next week:) I'll wait to see if someone else fills her in. I think they could watch it online, maybe...

I am torn between 24 and Heros so one week I watch one Monday night and the other in the internet and then swap up the next week.

I like the series "Lost" but I buy it on DVT once a year. I don't like suspense:')

I've never given blood. I have hypoglycemia. Here's hoping they get it the first stick.

I watched Lost once or twice but had to many shows to watch at the time so I dropped that one. I may buy it on DVD and watch it that way, it looks like a suspense filled show.

We watch Greys Anatomy.

The newer models of DVR's let you record 2 things at once...that would solve your Mon. night problem.

Good luck on giving blood.

I can't give blood either, I had yellow jaundice as a teen, when I had mono. I don't know why, but they won't take my blood because of that.

It is but that way you can go right to the next one. That is what I meant by suspense. I don't like waiting another week to see what happens:')

Speaking of shows and recording and playing back...:)...I just got back from my walk. I've been listening lately to Rod Stewart's Great American Songbook CD's when I walk. You know, I just like those more and more, I come back smiling after listening to them, and lately play them alot while I'm at home. I usually just like the quiet, but these CD's are soooooo good, and I just love the music being played. It's so soothing.

I first heard about them last year. AI had a Rod Stewart Great American Songbook Week. I swear it was the best week of the whole season. I finally got the CD's around Christmas, and have just about wore them out.

Any one else heard them?

Becky

We watched the first two seasons of 24 on CD's I couldn't handle more then 2 episodes a night...The first year we watched them from the start of the season and got one episode a week, the suspense seemed to be not as intense. By the next week it had faded some. I actually didn't like it as much, but now I've gotten use to it.

American Idol.

I like his older stuff too, but these are great. And that week on AI, he was great, he had a great personality, and he is such a showman, very fun to watch, and for an old rock star, he isn't that bad to look at:)

I haven't heard of that collection... is it Rod Stewart or did he just produce it?

I saw Rod Stewart in concert once... a bunch of college friends had season tickets to the outdoor amphitheater, so we saw a lot of shows we ordinarily wouldn't have gone out of our way to see... and Rod Stewart was one of them. But he was terrific in concert, terrific showman... and has a terrific band... big horn section.
