The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

LOL, My DIL's mother is an interior designer, and she was down there yesterday, and said that stuff was very "retro":). She loved them...I think they are ugly as sin, but very useful for what Mack needed:)

I think if it was just one it would be ugly, but all three together is a fashion statement ;~)

Yeah, Mack plays the drums, (and those are congo drums, like bongos, only bigger), Charlie plays his guitar. They have a nice set up down there to go and make noise:) The TV is for Mack to play some lesson DVD's for drums.

The prints are just some pictures he picked up at Walmart:). It's his retreat:). Sun. we were laughing that most people have a lake house, or country house they go to for relaxation time. We have a town house:). It's very nice down there in the evening. Bixby rolls up the streets about 8:00 so it's very quiet there, and there is a nice park directly across the street, so a nice view out the bank of windows across the front. He wants to get some vertical blinds across them so he can close them. He doesn't get much work done down there, all the old cronies stopping in all day long:)

I guess:)

We are rather undecided what to do as far as the rest of the office is concerned, it's "retro-ugly". Very dark smooth wood paneling, on the walls, and horrible horrible tile floors. Every room done in a different pattern. The examine rooms, of them are all different colors, a horrible pea colored green one, a blue, a white,
The counters are orange. The wood paneling is very nice wood, the real stuff, hate to take it down or paint over it, but not sure how hard it would be to refinish all that, and how to update it. The examine rooms have some thing like formica paneling...lots of work.

Kindof have to decide how much money to put into it in order to get rent eh? Maybe see if you can advertise that someone else can remodel it to suit them in exchange for a few months free rent. ??? Dunno :~)

I think Mack is going to try that first. Renting it as is, while he mulls around what to do with it. We knew when we bought the building 3-4 years ago that the Doc wouldn't be there long. I'm just glad he held out long enough for us to get the other 2 parts of the building done. We pretty much have the entire center part rented out, Mack just today is going to pick up 2 tanning beds to put in the 2 office spaces behind Jenny's shop. They should bring in as much rent as a renter would, and we won't have to mess with a renter:) In the other offices down the center we have the Bixby Newspaper offices, they should be long termers, and an insurance agent is moving in the rest this week. Gives us some breathing room on the Docs end.

It's really going to be a difficult tho, if we have to remodel that part, and I'm pretty certain we will. I can't imagine it now as anything but a Dr.s office. Mack has some idea's on how to change some thing around to make it nice place for some business that needs seperate office space, lobby area, and conference area. Like a realtors office, or insurance...It's just hard to get renters to downtown Bixby. The main street has moved to about 2 blocks from downtown. Most people want to rent there, altho they pay huge rent. The only thing downtown Bixby has going for it right now is the Hamburger resturant next door to our building. Most of the buildings are standing empty.

The building I am in is kind of like that. New ones are going up further north. Traffic is a problem but the place has character and plenty of parking. It was a lot less expensive too. I guess in addition to my business, it is my 'town house" too. (that's cute) I have a refrigerator, and microwave now. Cable is coming. :')

A view of the "office" from the other end:) The top on the table in the foreground can be flipped to play poker and there is bumper pool under that. I got him that for Christmas.

He is going to have a big garage door put in that far wall and put in a tile floor in that corner so he can easily get the bikes in, and his Vet. And it will be a place to work on cars, etc, in AC and heat. He still wants to have a few cars to sell in the parking lot.

But he really does do some work there:), phone calls, putting bids together, etc. I guess just a man's work/play room all in one. Not much different then my horses/barn. It's all a matter of what you enjoy. He loves playing his drums, and I love that he has a place other then the house to go do that:)

I think it's terrific that he's got it. - that you've both got it. It's a cool place.

Mack has a fridge, I want him to get a microwave. Actually I would like to put in an entire kitchen. We have thought about it, but right now is just not the time, not yet:)

I don't have room. Once I build my own place I will have one of those too...and a private bathroom.

Mack's office has a bathroom, and the center section has a bathroom that the renters share. The Dr.'s office has 3 bathrooms.

My dream...and it will probably never happen...is to have a ranch and to set up 5 schools in 5 different parts of Texas. Each one would have an apartment and office attached with a small pen /pasture in the back and we would travel from school to school.:')
