This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Sure - I'll try! :~)
Good morning!
Good morning.
Very cold here altho not as cold as you MT. We are in the 20's with a lot of wind tho:(. But our good news is by Sat we will be in the 50's and they are forecasting at 3 days of 60's next...Yeah!!!!!!!
Duchess, looking forward to baby pictures:)
Becky
Well, we didn't get rain that I would call an 'event' yesterday, but maybe today, along with ~some~ wind too... (a breeze event?) we'll see.
Pretty warm at night, upper 40s... it's almost grass planting time. :~)
Kind of an interesting off topic topic:). Cindy I thought you really might find it interesting.
You know we own that building down town. Well one end of it was being rented by a Dr. that has had his practice there for 20 years. He is a DO, and he is very very old. Well whatever organization that licensed him, would not renew his license anymore. They pretty much forced him to retire. He probably needed too, but he also had gotten to where he knew his limitations and didn't treat much more then colds, ear infections, I went to him last year for my poison ivy, that sort of thing.
Anyway they spent the month of Jan. moving his stuff out, and trying to sale most of it but the stuff is soooooo dated, and his equipment sooooo out dated. Anyway, there was some stuff in there Mack would have liked to have, the Dr. desk, and chairs, the lobby waiting area chairs, file cabinets, etc. Well it got down to the end and they still had a lot of stuff over there (I meant to get pictures last night, but it was too cold to go out, maybe today:), that they just couldn't get rid of. Mack told them he would would take all of it off their hands for the price of hauling the stuff off. They agreed.
But now we have this really old medical equipment, an ether machine and suction machine for removing tonsils, (he use to do that in his office, yikes), a centrifuge, a speciman incubator, and EKG machine, an ex-ray table, examine tables, electric shock treatment machine for muscles (I'm sure there is a better name for it:). Anyway, several people have told us we could probably get rid of some of this stuff on E-bay. I guess there is no way to know tho what this stuff would be worth??? if anything.
We are going to now have to do some major renovations on this part of the building before anyone would ever want to rent it....lots of work.
Becky
I was looking at the weather in your part this morning. It's looked like you could have gotten snow...
Becky

These two chairs are recliners, and surprisingly very comfortable. We went down there Sun. evening and sat and watched a movie on the TV. It was like going to the movies:)

Becky
The upper elevations might get significant snow, but it's warm down here. I think we're just gonna get rain. I hope we don't get too much wind, we just got the yard all clean :~\
Interesting about all the equipment... no idea what I'd do about it.... ebay sounds good, but some of it would be pretty big to ship I'd think!
A trip to a warm place does sound nice right now!
Becky
Oh yeah, some of it weighs tons....:) I'd almost think this stuff is museum stuff:) The ether/suction machine looks like something Dr. Frankenstein used to make his monster:)
Becky
Sounds like she's getting ready. How's your weather?
Those old recliners are great... and probably still sturdy as heck, right?
The green orange and gold vinyl.... vey 70s... They might even be retro-chic!
Can you sell stuff on ebay with the caveat that people have to be able to come and get it? You can on Craigs list...
The prints look interesting. Local buildings? You might have mentioned those before, but I forgot.
And don't forget movies... I don't get the feeling a lot of ~work~ happens in that office ;~)
Sure, my neighbor sold his vintage (circa 1940's) Harley to a man in Texas. He made the trip to Ohio to pick it up.
That's sort of what we thought, this stuff would make nice museum pieces. There really isn't enough to make it on it's own, but I'd think somewhere someone collects stuff like this. We just don't know how to locate them. I'll try a hospital. Thanks for the suggestion:)
I'm sure years ago, the Doc was up on what he needed to be up on. But alot of people in the town were glad he was retiring. They all thought he was a quack. I feel that was thought mostly because of the way he looked. He walked with a walker, and very slow, he had eyebrows that stuck out about 2 inches above his eyes...and when you talked to him he tended to drift off sometimes. I'd get aggravated when I heard people bash him. He was just old. You didn't go to him unless you knew exactly what was the matter and what treatment you needed. If you went in there was anything serious, he'd send you on to someone else. He pretty much catered to the old folks in town and the ones that didn't have insurance. He wouldn't even take insurance. You had to pay cash. I didn't think of him as a quack, just old and outdated himself.
Becky
A social gathering place for all the (old farts). :)
