The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Now that's one way to do it:') I have had both of my horses act up before but nothing like this. They know better. I had just put them both back out and their batteries were charged. They wanted out of the stalls. I anticipated they might be eager and made them both step back from the doors before I went in. They both waited for me to halter them and didn't rush out. I was extra careful though because of the situation. This bad boy blind sided me though. I was not expecting a horse to escape "back to the barn". I just run them back because I done want any fights to be "king" of the pasture at the gate. He seemed docile. The one I know was the one I was watching. Oh well..fool me once. I have his number now:')

Good Morning.

A little brighter today, but we did have some light snow last night. It felt like spring yesterday, being in the mid 30's.

It's in Chelsea - the most overpriced section of London.

It's outrageous - worse than Manhattan - because you can't build up, it's not a high rise district. No old lofts or anything like that to convert, all built over long ago.

Whoever might be in the market for something like this would be better off to move a little farther out of town, or rent.

Bamboo pole sounds even better than a whiffle bat.

You can reach out and touch them from farther away, plus it's just as noisy as a whiffle bat.

I like the idea of one of those super soaker squirt guns, except maybe for a horse like Becky's old Rusty, that actually ~liked~ water.

Well, you can't see the snow flakes - trust me, they are there.

Still can't see the snow flakes - some accumalation on the ground

Picture of Max - the micro min pin

Max and the girls

How's this for a pitiful picture. CJ taken last week-end (it was on the camera). Dirty and wooly.

Blue

Another Blue - he's 54 lbs now and two days shy of being eight months old.

Angel and Tessa

Okay, back to the laundry :)

SNOW! It's a blizzard here!

Looking out the front door. Can hardly see the neighbor's house.

Out the back.

Lugar loves it.

That's a good idea too... plastic bat, pole, water gun...hmm. I was really thinking of something smaller though...like a pellet gun or tazor:') (just kidding...kind of)

Aw, pups are cute! That's a lot of dogs in a house. At least they are small.

You have wagon wheels too. Nice Western type decorations.

My horses look terrible also. One does not feel like messing around too much in this kind of weather. Bodie was out yesterday, while I completely stripped his stall. At least it was warm enough for the mud to thaw some.

I'm working today. I just walked to Burger King. That's enough walking for me . I saw the preacher in the parking lot. He said "will you be in church tonight?" It must be a hard job, herding sheep:')

Oh that is awful. Aside from a white out, it looks like you already have 3-4 inches on the ground.

Alright, I'll quit whining about my piddly little amount of snow :)

How cute. I haven't forgotten about the pics of "Cocoa" yet.My husband put her outside this morning. She was growling and barking like she is already 100 pds. Cindy just looks at her and walks off. My husband better watch her. Cindy doesn't get out much unless the neighbor cooking but she has a history of taking a new dog for a walk and being the only one to come back.
