Unfortunately, Cardy, that isn't true in my case. What I do is very important because kids' lives are at stake, literally, and there aren't enough of us to do what really needs to be done. But do you think the state takes that into consideration when they keep us so bogged down with busywork and deadlines that we can't get out and do the important things? Of course not! Their answer is to have a hiring freeze...or hire imcompetents at the supervisory level to "manage" things. Yeah, ok. We know how well that works. NOT!
You see I did exempt you and Pippin. But Sweets for the children has become a joke. Real neglect does not require a genius to recognize and is often overlooked by the services who are there to protect them - but the viciousness of using the government to try and steal the children of decent parents to punish them for not kissing the backsides of DHS has come up time and time again.
You people as a group, are not shining examples of anything except runaway government intrusion. Of course, you do a lot of good but you also do a lot of harm. Like any other government endeavor how large a budget you can get is job one; not for the workers, but for the ones who really run the show. And you know how that is done.
I could write an essay on the reasons for this in every country, but not on this thread.
But. I did exempt you and Pippin. Gran does do not call me Sir Wimp for nothing :)
What terrifies me is the though that maybe we deserve this government.
A routine appendix operation in Belgrade went badly wrong when two surgeons started fighting and stormed from the operating theatre to settle their dispute outside, the daily Politika reported on Wednesday.
Surgeon Spasoje Radulovic was operating when his colleague Dragan Vukanic entered and made a remark that started a quarrel, said the anaesthesiologist on duty.
"At one moment Vukanic pulled the ear of the operating doctor, slapped him in the face and walked out," she said.
Radulovic followed and an all-out fight ensued, resulting in bruises, a split lip, loose teeth and a fractured finger.
The operation was completed successfully by the attending assistant doctor.
LOL, have fun...
When Dan found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed a woman to enjoy it with. So one evening he went to a singles bar where he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her natural beauty took his breath away.
"I may look like just an ordinary man," he said as he walked up to her "but in just a week or two, my father will die, and I'll inherit 20 million dollars."
Impressed, the woman went home with him that evening and, three days later, she became his stepmother.
Women are so much smarter than men.
I bet you can access KOS or DU, yes?
Another sign that when they win, they go for the jugular. We show up to play flag football and they come with razor knives and guns.
I challenge you to take thy boat out beyond the reef, and we'll see how tough thou art......
:-)
Certainly the ones who kept telling us we had to teach the Pubbies a lesson and let the Dems win..............
Yep, they sure taught a lesson alright.
I just love hearing the news from Congress each day....yep, no difference at all now that the Dems have control, glad the lesson was taught..../sarcasm
The Dane, the Swede, and the Norwegian were arguing about which country
was most advanced in medicine.
"Well, in our hospitals," the Dane bragged, "we had a lady who had lost
her arm. We put in a mechanical arm, and now it works just as if it was
her own!"
"Hah, that's nothing," said the Swede. "In our hospitals, we had a
person without a heart. We put in an artificial one, and now he is
running for the olympics!"
"Hahaha," said the Norwegian. "We had a person who had gotten his head
chopped off. We put on a cabbage, and now he is in the parliament!"
That one is a keeper -- I will e-mail it
We revert to our true natures in zero seconds flat.
Except me of course always the urbane gentleman.
That's where I got it...
It will only be a matter of time before they discover how smart turnips are before they all want transplants.
Trans plants!
You ought to see the arti chokes!!
I found the guy --- they did a good job.
First, catch one vegetarian.
Gut, drain and skin in a standard manner for large game.
Remove head, hands and feet, reserve with skin on for final presentation.
Given the lean quality of most vegetarian flesh, stewing is an excellent cooking method. Poaching or braising will also work well. Roasting, frying, or broiling will require basting, tenderizing or added fat for best results.
Cube meat into one inch square, leaving excess in larger chunks for freezing.
Marinate in herbs (recommend rosemary, thyme, pepper, and perhaps juniper berries) and good red wine for several hours, to help tenderize.
Set water to boil in an appropriately sized cauldron or pot. You may need an extra large burner or open fire if you're making a very large quantity.
Add several bones to the water and boil briskly.
Brown meat lightly, in small batches, in a large skillet with butter and chopped onion. Brown lightly and drain when finished on a paper towel.
Remove bones from water and add barley, if desired.
Add carrots, parsnips, and meat.
Add bay leaves, bouquet garni, and a few generous splashes of Worcestershire sauce and more red wine.
Add celery, mushrooms (wild recommended), chopped onions and firm fresh green beans.
When done, serve hot with crusty bread. Can be presented in large tureen with seasonal greens or flowers intermingled with head, hands and feet arrayed around the serving bowl.
Especially festive for a holiday meal!
Next time: Vegetarian sausage and a modern haggis, plus making your own parchment!
Very interesting Lady J - but at the moment I am only in the beginners class. I fry eggs and nuke bacon.
I have these two pieces of fish can you tell me how to make basic batter?
Oh I did once have a fry pan and two pots cooking at the same time...
Without a recipe I'm lost.
Use Shake 'n' Bake; that's what I do.
