I don't think fruitfly is a good analogy. I had two wonderful trips to the Philippines and found the people charming and gracious and good friends to the USA. In certain sections, the poverty is horrible but still they manage to smile. And in other sections, wealth abounds. You should be so lucky to have such gorgeous homes and educated children.

I see quite a few Filipino doctors and nurses here in the US. Just doing the doctoring and nursing that Americans won't do. /s

Well, it was a joke, that sort of fell flat.

Actually, here in the PNW, there are a large number of Filipinos. They are hard-working, friendly, and as you said, gracious and charming.

In fact a F500 company I used to work for was sued by somebody from another minority because they (the company) actively had a policy to hire Filipinos, but it was settled, and you'll never read about it in the news.

Do we still own the Philippines? Or did we give it back, or let them go, or whatever?
