Remote detection satellites are used by the intelligence branch of the military to conduct mind control exercises in the theater of war. All this technology is dependent upon the higher branches of particle physics and quantum mechanics. The array of satellites safe in deep space cover the entire earth making the mind control intelligence program widely successful. Be amazed as you view this military program break out of the box. Go to the following web site that shows a real-time mind control zombie being manipulated by satellite and the military. www.MindControlUSA.com

Two part question for my friends on the UT...

If you could have a super power, ala super hero/super villain, what would it be?

Include any negative side effects from using said power...

For me, an almost Dr. Manhattan like ability to control energy no matter it's form. To channel it, to change it from form to form. The penalty, loss of my basic humanity. That connection of empathy I've never really felt with the rest of the shaved ape population.

Mine would be akin to yours.

Starting with the discovered ability to teleport, then amplifying the ramifications of that.

Those who can teleport have a natural ability to move their bodies from place to place, or to move other objects to them.

I have an envisioned scenario of a teleport encountering a normal person, one who met the standards as a suitable companion.

Over time, the teleport taught and enabled the non-teleport to have the ability. There is no practical limit to such an ability.

One reason I have not put this scenario to paper is that the basic idea, and inherent abilities involved, have been subsumed into my existing works.

Sounds a little existential until you start thinking about the physics involved. The mind works on a electro-chemical basis. Information cannot be destroyed. The connections our brains make MUST have some impact on the space-time around them. What if that were amplified. Enhanced. Quantified. Then what?

Once you learn to tap into the fundamental forces, you could literally do anything. Including a certain omnipresence that would set you forever apart from the rest of humanity.

It would be nice to transcend all the petty jealousies, the arguments, the differences...

I'd like to have telepathic powers so I could read people's minds. Not just like Diana Troi's in ST:TNG where she could read feelings, but actually read thoughts. The side effect, of course, is knowing too much and not being able to screen out things you'd want to. But I'd only want the power if I could turn it on and off at will.

Things are going fine here. I'm keeping busy, as usual. I have to do some traveling this weekend. The news said it will snow on Sunday, so I'll be driving tomorrow.

You're jumping into an existing conversation, Tulip. But we were talking about "Super-Powers!" Like which one you would want to have, and what the effects might be.

I described teleportation, and why I hadn't written a story about it.

It's because direct, mind-to-mind communication obviates a lot of the mundane aspects of the limitations of physics.

*** 'Denotes silent, mind-to-mind, communication.' ***

‘This is all pretty exciting, isn’t it, Jade?’

‘I’m having a lot of fun, Brian.’

‘I may be too excited to sleep. I know I’m tired, but I just have so much energy!’

‘Would you like to take a walk along the beach?’

‘Now? No, I really don’t want to leave the ship right now. Besides, there’s no Moon out tonight.’

‘Oh, I didn’t mean in the Moonlight, anyway. How would you like to take a walk in the Sunlight?’

Brian inclined his head toward her. ‘You can do that?’

She squeezed him. ‘Only with your permission, Brian.’

‘It sounds nice ... relaxing. Let’s do it.’

In an instant, they were walking, hand in hand, across warm golden sands. The sun was shining brightly and felt warm across his back. Sea birds were calling and wheeling through a beautiful blue sky.

Brian looked over at Jade. Her hair, and her beautiful body, seemed to glow with a soft golden light. He looked down at himself, and saw the same shimmering luster.

The surf was rolling gently into the shore, dampening the sand to firm it as they walked.

They came to a spot where two little boys were building a sand castle. As they drew closer, the two boys got up and ran away to play another game.

The little sand castle was elaborate, with walls and towers, and conical roofs covering the sandy buildings.

‘Would you like to sit down?’ Jade asked him.

‘Okay.’

They turned toward the little sand castle. With each step, instead of getting closer to the castle, Brian saw that it was getting larger and larger as it receded in the distance.

Finally, its size stopped changing, and they stood before an enormous castle right there on the beach, with high walls, and huge wooden doors.

As they walked up to it, the doors opened, and they walked into a cool shaded interior. Brian could no longer feel the hot sun on his back.

They continued through, into a shaded garden, with fruits of all descriptions hanging within easy reach.

Jade plucked a succulent golden orb and held it to Brian’s mouth. The sweet liquid flowed like a fountain as he bit into it, but it did not spill out.

She turned it for him, as he continued to bite and drink the sweet juices, until it was only an empty core.

Jade held her hand out straight, and the ruined fruit grew wings, and fluttered away as a butterfly.

They came to a seat in the flowered garden and Jade sat down, pulling Brian down to rest his head on her lap. She leaned down and kissed him, with a tenderness and an intoxicating sweetness that made his vision recede like a timid lover.

In the shade, and the warmth, and the nearness of her, he slept.

Interesting. I like your take on it. Not just the ability, but the consequences as well...

sounds more interesting than my plans. @ rooms to paint. Some shooting to do to sight in a new scope. Nothing much beyond that...

I'd be able to see the neuron interactions in her brain. Without moonlight, I'd be able to see her by her thermal signature and the background radiation she blocks out. We could lie above the sand on a cushion of air converted from the gravity well itself. I could stimulate nerve endings directly and stretch the perception of time out to a point where it would seem a heartbeat would take a week....

The problem with having a mind like mine only appears when you let it off it's leash...

You're jumping into an existing conversation, Tulip.

That's what I normally do. I'm not around enough to follow everything.

But we were talking about "Super-Powers!" Like which one you would want to have, and what the effects might be.

I don't know what else that I would want.

"I could stimulate nerve endings directly and stretch the perception of time out to a point where it would seem a heartbeat would take a week...."

I've used that concept also, in my current book which is half finished.

Again, it's a consequence of direct mental stimulation.

An ability to know what others are thinking is an interesting choice. Shows a large amount of empathy...
