But the system proves nothing, just like last year.
And your team is who exactly???
No way to say that UT would have prevailed in a rematch with OSU, odds are that sooner or later Vince Young wouldn't have been able to outscore UT's less-than-stellar defense.
Maybe or maybe not. It's pointless to argue because the system we have isn't a playoff.....
We are going to get a plus one game, and it isn't that far away. Once that happens, evolving into a playoff is inevitable.
It's AT LEAST 3 full seasons away (TV Contract won't expire until after the 2009 bowl season) and you're absolutely naive to think that they even give a crap (they being the power that be in the BCS and bowl system) to determining a true national champion.

And your team is who exactly??? Texas. Why, am I supposed to all of sudden say this POS system is great just because my team was finally picked to go to the 2-team beauty contest?

3-years isn't that far away. They won't add a plus-one this year, but don't rule it out after that. Too many coaches changing their stance and advocating for a playoff now. They aren't the presidents, but it is another big crack in the coalition that had fought a playoff. As long as the bowl system is protected, playoffs are an option. The TV networks are also interested. A plus-one isn't really any more difficult to pull off than adding a 5th BCS bowl, which was proposed and then implemented over just a single off-season.

(An easy 10-team playoff based on the BCS bowls can be implemented by next year. See my homepage.)
