Not a very good list. Lotta good movies. However, they are right in these:

* American Beauty - Piece of trash
* Nashville - Way overrated
* Easy Rider - Overrated, but I can see why people like it.

The Thing (1982) Donnie Darko Last Year at Marienbad (HUUUUGE let down after watching Resnais' brilliant Hiroshima mon amour and Nuit et brouillard) Monsieur Verdoux (Charlie Chaplin just wasn't able to adapt properly to the talkies)

Nashville
Good Will Hunting
Godfather (part 3)
Star Trek:The Motion Picture
Chicago
Moulin Rouge
Monster's Ball
Anything with Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohman in it.
JFK, Nixon, just about any film made by Oliver Stone
2001: A Space Odyssey
Fantasia
The "American Pie" series
Forrest Gump

The most overrated genre is the remaking old television shows into full length movies w/over-rated actors. Miami Vice isn't Miami Vice without the pastel-as much as they want to pretend that it is! (IMHO)

OUCH!

...I definitely take issue with the panning of 'An American In Paris', 'Gone With The Wind', 'Forrest Gump', and 'The Wizard of Oz'.

Love 'em or hate 'em, they're definitely classics and part of American Popular culture.

With the exception of 'Forrest Gump', there isn't a director or producer in Hollywood today that could turn out such monumental epics, nor could they find actors as charismatic as Gene Kelly, Judy Garland, Clark Gable, or Vivien Leigh.
