Evel Knievel has sued Kanye West, taking issue with a music video in which the rapper takes on the persona of "Evel Kanyevel" and tries to jump a rocket-powered motorcycle over a canyon.
Knievel, whose real name is Robert Craig Knievel, filed a lawsuit in federal court in Tampa on Monday claiming infringement on his trademark name and likeness. He also claims the "vulgar and offensive" images depicted in the video damage his reputation.
"That video that Kanye West put out is the most worthless piece of crap I've ever seen in my life, and he uses my image to catapult himself on the public," the 68-year-old daredevil said Tuesday.

Bubba the Love Sponge from Sirius radio has a phone message from Knievel that he plays all the time in which Evil curses Bubba out. It's great and shows what a vile person Evil Knievel is.
He was one of the first people to fgure out the whole name-marketing thing. I don't blame him for feelingas he does, but his name sure hasn't been in the news in a positive light in 20+ years, it seems.
Being connected to Kanye West isn't a positive.
"Being connected to Kanye West isn't a positive."
Just ask George Bush.
Evel's rep can't be totally bad.
He does tv commercials (at least here in Indiana)
for "1-800 Mr Roof" a home improvement company
OK, as soon as I find an analogy that describes how warped an argument it is to toss Bubba the Love Sponge and Evel Knievel into a sentence and have Kneivel come out as the one who is "vile..." -- nah. Can't be done. Words don't exist yet.
Whoa! What sort of mushrooms do they eat on your planet, anyway, dude?
Nothing, no one, is more vile, more calculatingly, destructively, offensive, more of an enemy of decency, than "bubba the love sponge." He makes Howard Stern look like George Carlin.
And spare me all the specious libertarian free speech toilet-paper talking points.
If Knievel has the name and/or image copyrighted, it's an open and shut case.
I am a fan of rap and hip hop. I have tried to listen to Kayne West's albums. They are really bad. "Golddigger" is catchy, but unlike Jay-Z, who writes intelligently, West is a terrible writer whose babbles are very immature and meaningless.

Sorry dude. I'm not uptight and I like Bubba (and Howard). I view it as entertainment, not social commentary, not the way I should live my life, just entertainment. Loosen the sphincter.
He was one great showman though.
Put down the bong son and get a breath of fresh air. Did you really think you had to inform me of this? and if you were twenty years older, I could tell you what you drive, where you hang out on friday nights, and could identify 95% of your record collection.
Nothing new under the sun, son.
You're up early today. Now go get some fresh air.
Maybe...but I wouldn't mess with a guy who has the ball$ to jump 26? busses in the LA Coliseum or strap a rocket to his a$$ and jump a canyon in YOUTAH. If this West guy has half a brain he will apologize to Evel and act real nice!
I wouldn't mind if Kanye did try to jump a rocket-powered motorcycle over a canyon.
I would trade seven thousand Kanye Wests for an empty soda bottle.
