Another reason to ban SUVs.
SUVs carry guns now?
Where do I get this option?
I suppose the SUV fired the gun too.
Some body was a good shot.
Exactly the same thing that happened here in Indiana this year. I was amazed at the number of people who said the shooter had every right to kill the kid.
I guess "SUV's" don't have actual drivers anymore. Must have been one of those new stealth models.
Anyone who fires a gun in anger, while aiming at others has no respect for others, no sense of the potential consequences of their actions, and no sense of personal responsibility.
This is a cultural problem which can only be solved by the community which is afflicted.
I would never egg on a SUV
Abandoned to be reported stolen as an alibi for the owner or actually stolen and the kids picked the wrong vehicle to mess with? I wonder. The time of the incident wasn't stated but I wonder if mom knew where her son was? Note I left off dad ... statistically accurate (hey, if the RATs use that as a justification for overturning a recount, why can't I use it for commentary?)
Maybe an egg fell on one of Putin's spy SUVs, or the SUV of a mafiosa, or the SUV of Billy Jeff, or the the Bin Laden family Escalade ...I'm just trying to help police understand who would seek such revenge on a teen in this world.
The boy said the driver stopped the SUV, got out and began to run after them. The boy said while he ran through one back yard, Danny found himself trapped in the alley.
He said when he got to his house near Terrace Avenue, he heard six shots.
Dannys house is about a mile from the alley where he was shot. A woman who answered the door at the house yesterday said Dannys father did not want to comment.
Sgt. Dana Norman said the driver fled in the SUV. Police located the vehicle a short time later nearby on Burgess Avenue.
Looks like the guy who was hit with the egg really wanted his revenge.
SUV manufacturers know that these vehicles are coming into the hands of criminals.
There is no right to own these assault vehicles!
Where are the common sense SUV laws?
An "asymmetrical conflict."
A similar event occured last year as well. Watch, a certain cadre of FReepers will revel in the shooting and call it justified.
Need to control these high capacity egg cartons. No one needs to eat eighteen eggs at time.
I'm speculating here, but I'm getting the sneaky feeling that the owner of the SUV was a homeboy, and egging his ride constituted a "diss," which is a capital crime in the urban jungle.
Based on the majority of responses here, it would seem that the right of juvenile delinquents to throw objects into moving traffic without consequences has become a conservative value.
I disagree. You unnecessarily initiate a physical confrontation, you don't get any sympathy from me if it escalates into more than you bargained for.
Never throw eggs at Gold Edition Escalades.
Shooting wasn't justified. Maybe some kind of good can come from this incident in that children can be taught from it that actions have consequences & they aren't always what you hope they will be.
If parents would use this story to illustrate that when you trespass on, or vandalize someone else's property - you might just be stirring up a hornet's nest. Obviously, when these vandals threw the eggs, they were hoping to get a reaction from the driver - they got a lot more than they bargained for.
Moral of the story: Be careful what you wish for.
Kids do stupid things, but apparently some-one more stupid than kids do stupid things.
There never has been and, there will never be an SUV worth the life of a child.
How can some-one be so stupid? Before you answer, if you have a child this age, look at them real good, this could have been your child.
