COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) A 14-year-old boy who was throwing eggs at cars along with two other teenagers was shot and killed by someone who had been in a sport-utility vehicle that was hit, police said.
Danny Crawford was killed by a gunshot wound to his upper body, Franklin County Coroner Brad Lewis said. He died in an alley on the city's west side early Saturday, authorities said.
The teens were throwing eggs at cars when an SUV that was struck chased them, Detective Tim Huston said. The vehicle stopped and several gunshots were fired, he said.
Police were looking for the shooter, who fled in the SUV, Sgt. Dana Norman said. The SUV believed to be involved was found a short time later near where Crawford died.
The other teens were not hurt, police said.
Have you ever been in a car that has been hit by an egg? I did, late one night, probably close to midnight, on a road under construction on my way home. I guarantee I thought I was in trouble.
I was shaking enough that I had to pull over check on my daughter, and compose myself. My immediate thought was I could see someone shooting back at that car or someone in the egged car losing control and having a wreck.
Actions have consequences. The kid learned that.
it's the "Christine" edition!
"no sorrow here."
amen
It's an incredibly stupid, dangerous thing to do to throw objects into moving traffic. It should be dealt with harshly; there must be consequences.
Vigilante murder shouldn't be one of them. We live in a civilized society. We don't operate according to such vendetta justice. And potential manslaughter, horrible as it is, still doesn't equate to cold-blooded murder.
And I doubt the driver was thinking about how he might swerve and strike someone else. He was probably thinking about having to get his car cleaned.
"the a**hole who wrote post#17."
very good.....if you disagree, you are obliged to call the other party an a**hole.
outstanding!!!
Dang, you were lucky, at high speed I am sure it could of caused death. I imagine they only slowed down to improve accuracy, but unfortunately, if you throw enough ammo (and I am sure kids throw at more than one car before they are gratified) you will hit something eventually.
Thanks for your post sir.
Accident. No harm meant.
Accident. No harm meant.
Accident. No harm meant.
Harmless....you are assuming this kid is a "child"....if you have ever been to the hood...they are animals...the brain stem hasn't developed in a lot of these "kids"....sad to say..but true...
I agree. The shooter did stop the egg throwing kid before he progressed to tossing boulders off over passes.
May other such idiots benefit from this idiots experience on else meet the same fate, before some innocent traveler is killed by a boulder off a bridge.
RIP Sh*t head!
And that's one heck of a good reason to not commit stupid, dangerous crimes in the first place: not knowing if you'll ever even see a trial!
Over 130 posts and no one has picked up on the fact that it may have been the wrong kid.
At 12:30 AM the odds are very mch against the driver having been able to see who threw the egg.
As an ex owner operator let me say that
>A semi tread coming off and hitting my hood.<
This shows that the driver did not carefully inspect his tires before he got behind the wheel. No accident.
>Dodging a 1,200 pound round bale of hay that left a hay trailer.<
This shows the driver did not fasten his load securely using the proper gear. It also shows he didn't stop to reinspect the load after diving a short distance to verify that it was secure. (This is what you should do with flexible loads.) No accident
>Taking to the median at 80 miles an hour because a semi driver became overly focused on mering traffic.<
This shows a driver whom I wouldn't want driving for me because IMO he isn't qualified to handle a rig in heavy traffic. No accident.
Yes, and no one has mentioned the fact that an SUV driver may be a fabricated excuse for some 14 year old hood kids murdering one that crossed the pack. This may be an entirely fabricated story to cover up the truth. SUV drivers are a convenient scapegoat for liberals and diverse individuals.
