I actually would rather like living in some parts of Wyoming or maybe Idaho.
Trouble is, they'd have the same job problems as small town Vermont, only more so.
Seems to be the catch anywhere - if you want to live truly rural, land and houses are often relatively inexpensive...but good luck on the job front.
And I admit, it *is* nice to live within easy driving distance of places like Best Buy and Barnes and Noble.
All you have to do is convince some rich old person to make you their heir and die. Problem solved.
Yeah, that's the big hurdle in our quest to 'get rich and go be hermits in the woods somewhere.' Good thing is that you don't have to be filthy stinking rich to accomplish it... just rich enough. We're still working on that part.
