Here's a curiosity for gardeners... A few ~months~ ago... before Christmas probably, we took a wilting bunch of celery that had gotten too old in the fridge and put it in the squirrel/bird sanctuary, to see if they'd want it. I sortof propped it up and stuck it in the ground like it was a plant, it looked kindof cute.

Well, nobody wanted to eat it, and it wilted and got rather brown and soggy. I hadn't bothered to climb back in there and clean it up, I just left it there. Now it's very definitely growing! :~)

Yup - that's celery alright!

(Just in taking a break from busting ice off the drive. Figure I ought to FReep while I can still type.... before all my muscles seize up, that is.)

Heh, I wonder if it will tempt the squirrels now that it's all shiny and new!

I'm going to try rooting celery when it warms up here! I always feel so guilty throwing out celery, much more a problem in the summer than the winter when I use it in soups.

Cool! I thought it looked like it was rooting last time I saw it.

Just goes to show, almost anything will start growing here. I figure "On Top of Spaghetti" probably took place somewhere in Washington...
