Ungh...tired here. My pager went off in the middle of the night saying one of the servers was down. Luckily I was able to get to it remotely to reboot it.

... I started the reboot, stepped away for a second, and when I got back, someone else had taken control of the server (cursor was moving around) and it was being rebooted again. My boss presumably. I'm on call...but of course, I can't do stuff right. Better to follow behind me to correct every little thing I do, even at three in the morning. *sigh* Why even put me on-call?

When there's a N'oreaster, we have horizontal snow. It usually plasters the North and East sides of the house, and sticks to the north sides of the tree trunks. Kinda fun to watch, actually. We have big trees in the back yard, but thankfully, I don't think any are in striking range of the house, in the event they fall.

We had one break off about 8' from the ground once; just snapped right off! It was during a day of moderate winds, but we'd had stronger winds the previous couple of days. When it broke, it sounded like a rifle going off, and I looked outside, and the top part of the tree just moved slightly away from the trunk, then dropped right down! Drove itself into the ground about 6"!
