He wasn't that different in the first show. Moralistic. Preachy. Not-so-bright.

Now, first-show Starbuck was a lot of fun, which is why we kept him around. We buffed him up a bit ... responsibility, wife, kids ... but left him pretty much the same ol' Starbuck.

Which is why I can't get into the new Galactica, though I've noticed that they've taken to calling this chicky-poo "Kara," not "Starbuck."

Dispute all the good reviews the new show gets I don't think I will ever get into it. A guy that is roguish comes across ok. I am a little tired of them trying to float females that are roguish. It pretty hard to pull of without being trashy. Nothing against strong women... but come on! His name was StarBUCK for crying out loud. I got tired of macho women that can't relate to anyone or anything when I was watching Starscape. There is a fine line between strong self reliant woman and neurotic b***ch.

All that said... I just barely remember the first show and have not seen any of the new one.

There is a reason they ended up killing off Tash Yar. All the fans hated her.

I noticed that, too. I liked Starbuck from the original series. He was a light-hearted kind of fellow. Oh, and Apollo had 'Daddy' issues in the original series, too, IIRC.
