When Clare made her First Communion, I looked for a dress for her, and I swear, all the ones I found looked like a girl heading out for a Mardi Gras ball or something. They were all beaded and frou frou. I decided to make one for her and it was very plain; a sleeveless poly satin dress with a long sleeved georgette overlay. At the waistline, I put a simple row of Belgian lace with a thin band of french blue satin ribbon running through it. It was very simple and just lovely!

That does sound very pretty. Kinda wish I knew how to sew! I've started to learn a few times, but don't have a sewing machine around any more. Not to mention material is expensive...which is too bad. It'd be nice to be able to make dresses that suit me better than the ones I can find in stores.
