What would you need if it turned into an ice storm? About the same as for high wind... get out from under the trees and try to keep warm and water thawed.
The firs do better than the deciduous trees like maples and alders in ice. Iced up fir branches can hang straight down like they've been bundled like christmas trees... the alders and maples have a hard time trying that.
