The problem with doing a year long membership is that during the summer months you may want to do more biking or jogging outside and less at the gym.

This is true. Good point.

Hm...or instead of this whole gym business, I could buy the NordicTrack and dumbells someone is selling on Craigslist for a grand total of twenty bucks, move the bookshelf in my room to another wall and set it up there, and continue to be reclusive 'n that. And use the money I'd save on books and CDs - and bike gear come spring.

I can't wait until our basement is finished. We're going to put some exercise equipment down there. I am so much more likely to work out regularly if it doesn't involved getting ready, going to the gym, doing my thing with a hunred other people there, coming home, cleaning up... even with the gym only a mile away it's a pain.

Put the machine where you can see the tv, turn on a dvd with subtitles in case the dialog gets too quiet, and work out. Or music, audiobooks, whatever... that's what I'd do anyway.

Those are handy to have in a bedroom, because you can then hang your clean laundry, extra blankets and stuff on them. :~)
