I'm really wishing I could afford a place of my own here. Not that I have a landlord who's intrusive or anything...heh. He still hasn't been in here.
But I suppose sooner or later I'll look for a place of my own, depending on how work goes and all.
There are just so many possibilities for us, if we want to re-hab a house. So many were flooded, and have been gutted, and they're selling for pretty good prices, except the one I'd love. That one is a ranch with 4BR and 2 1/2 baths, and sits on a half acre of land overlooking a wide bayou. Of course, the bayou was the problem, because the house took 18" of water during Katrina. They're STILL asking $395K for it! It has been on the market since just after the storm in the fall of 2005, so by the time we get there, if it's still available, they may be more negotiable. Here's a link to it.
Click Here to view Property I'd love to raise the whole thing about 3 feet off the ground, to get it above any rising water, and do some updating. It could be a gorgeous place; the rest of the neighborhood is nice, but many of those homes took water, too. We could even put a second story on it, if we wanted to enlarge it. It certainly wouldn't be overimproving for the neighborhood!
