The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Oh dear... better watch out or the kids'll get too attached.

We went to the home depot for some supplies and then the gun store... looking for a nice little pistol for me. Now we know what to get but Talon has to get his pistol purchase permit renewed. Bah. Oh well, it's too cold for shooting anyway.

I had a beagle named "Gilligan" when I was growing up...little miniature beagle...short stocky legs. Cute as a button.

He had a sinus problem so that whenever he bayed he would snort loudly on inhaling. It was so hysterical that when he would take off down the street baying at something, the entire neighborhood would come out to listen!

Ahhhh---RoooooooooSNOOOOOOORRRRRRRT!!! Ah---RoooooooSNOOOOORRRRRTTT!!

Oh man, it was a riot.

He got heartworms though, when he was pretty old and my folks had him put down (I don't think they had the treatments back then that they have today or maybe he was just so old he wouldn't have lived through it.)

I remember brushing him with a pink hairbrush while he laid on his side in the garage, breathing labored. You could tell he just loved it. Then my folks took him.

:(

The Beetles with that kind of sunroof are very popular!

I've not had good luck in the beagle department.

Going to SFO? For two weeks? Yikes! Maybe you can pick up Corin :~)

We should probably come up there and do taxes, but we'll probably put it off another week.

Yah. Two weeks in SFO. Neato. And stupid me... I scheduled my stayover weekend to be a three-day of all things. It's too late to reschedule the other folks and whatnot... so I'm stuck.

so... I'll take a little mini-vacation next weekend and go out and about and see some sights. As places to go sight seeing, heck, it could be a lot worse. Should be fun.

I've heard of a new super-duper aquarium that's been put in Monterey. So I think I'll go check it out. Haven't been to Monterey since Fleet Week in the 80's when Resolute pulled in there. As I recall, it was a fun little town to be a drunken sailor in. :-)

Yah. Bike ride. No, not -2. It's sunny and clear, maybe 60 or so.

For some reason we always seem to have these fabulous days in February. Cold and wet January, windy and wet and gray in March. But Feb always seems to have a couple of really nice weeks.

Yah. I've done Alcatraz, and the SF waterfront. I did finally cross the GG bridge a while ago and went over to Sausalito. I'm not much interested in going downtown anymore. Monterrey is not very far, and is probably more my speed.
