The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Which is why I can't get into the new Galactica, though I've noticed that they've taken to calling this chicky-poo "Kara," not "Starbuck.">

I noticed that, too. I liked Starbuck from the original series. He was a light-hearted kind of fellow. Oh, and Apollo had 'Daddy' issues in the original series, too, IIRC.

On the other hand, as DaBear remarked when we heard about the diaper, she's used to weaing them ... that's how women in space handle that "call of nature" while wearing a spacesuit.

It somehow takes the shine off the female space experience ...

Male too probably... Space suits don't have a 'fly' I don't think. In fact, I remember in "The Right Stuff" one of the astronauts peed his suit waiting on launch of one of the early missions. Probably when they came up with the diaper idea.

<laughing>Seek and ye shall find ...

The video is delightfully instructive ...

No, actually male astronauts have an "appliance" that is a high-tech equivalent of a mayonnaise jar, as well as a diaper.

Ah, well ... I came up with a neater, more efficient, and more invasive solution for my space opera.

But they can only do that for times when they can move about... during manual flight and launch, or things like space walks, they're stuck.

Conjures up images he could have done without...

I'd rather be mixed into paint and painted on as graffiti on the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge.

I told the Mrs. just to toss me on the compost pile.

Oooo ... thanks for the info, Talon!

I have a character who has jewels embedded in his face ... now I know what these jewels are!

Heh, there was a South Park episode with that premise. ;)

Ew...

Space opera speaking, though...there could be a whole race of folks who wear their dead relatives around in the form of gems...some sort of weird cult. Ick.

Re: Lifegems--I like 'em!! OB wants his body donated to a medical school, but I have heard the heirs get what remains back when the school year is finished. I'd prefer him as a 'lifegem' to either a burial plot or a urn on the fireplace. Of course, that assumes he goes first....LSA

I don't think reavers do jewelry...not as we know it, anyhow.

Well, it seems it would only be a small portion that would be used in a gem... I'd think you'd still have to decide what to do with the rest. Unless you really want to have a LOT of earrings, LOL.

In any case, it brings a whole new meaning to the term "the family jewels".

Unfortunately, OB is an only child, and I don't wear that much jewelry, though a tennis braclet of lifegems would be a conversation piece. The prices are a bit offputting for something like that.

I noticed one of the 'testimonials' was a pet owner who had a lifegem made from her cat!

He also has facial tattoos, silver hair, and silver-gray eyes with epicanthal folds. Women think he's quite attractive.

What can I say? It's space opera!
