Have you had a chance to sit down and talk to the boys?
Fire is powerful stuff, and I'll bet Matthew and Joshua learned powerful lessons from this incident.
I know I did ...

Was the hose frozen or something?
I had a grass fire get away from me once. Hey - it's about time to burn our apple tree pile, it's ready to go.

Happy birthday, youngling!

Grass fires are nasty. They most so fast are are kinda hard to see until they are really going.
I was assaulting a hill on an ROTC field training exercise when some artillery simulator (basically a really big firecracker) lit the prairie grasses on fire. A bunch of us spend a while running around beating the ground with our BDU jackets and dumping canteens on it.

Cute doggie pics we took yesterday over at Rosie's!
Cisco baiting everyone to chase him :~) And it worked!

Heh... and this... I guess it's never too cold to play in the pool when you're a moron. :~)

And then go roll and dry off in the dog house, of course :~\

Thanks!
youngling I don't know about that... To day is the big 'Three Oh'. I hear it is all downhill from here ;-P
But Jen insists I can't have a midlife crisis for at least 20 more years.

Oh yeah...we had a long talk after church (this all happened within a half an hour of church...Steve and I were still dealing with the situation when the boys went in and got cleaned up for church.)
Joshua was playing with the fire. That's all it comes down to. But he *told* us what he was doing and we didn't tell him not to. We practically gave him permission! The fact that there was a misunderstanding about what he was doing is our fault...we "shouldn't've" allowed it and we "shouldn't've" left him alone out there. We "shouldn't've" even started a fire...it was too windy!
Joshua made one bad decision. We made a slew of them.

Work email seems to be down. Nothing new here.

No, the back yard spigot burst a while back and since we aren't doing any significant gardening, we just capped it till the weather gets warmer...
Remember? Christmas eve eve, I believe...it burst under the sink?
Our garage was added on at another time and the spigot that is in the garage was actually on the side of the house at one time. The hose wouldn't reach with out two hoses and the hoses were put away in the garage.
Once we got the situation under somewhat control, I was able to go get the hoses and attach them to the spigot in the garage and really douse the area.
Cute puppies!! They really look like happy dogs...they have the life of riley!

I love my dog...even if he is a moron. ;-)
Splashing in the pool cracked me up, though. I mean...it was rather spring-like yesterday, but even so...
To: TalonDJ
Downhill from here? Well... you did marry me this year, I can't see how you'll top that. But downhill? No way.

Great pics! I really should post some of ours more often. Jen did post the link to the wedding pics a while back right?
Someone remind Jen to remind me to take some of our basement work and post them later.

At the risk of straying close to being on topic... I just finished the first Eragon book and liked it a lot. I liked it much better than any other recent fantasy stuff I have read. It is no Tolkien but worth a read.

I really should post some of ours more often. Well.... Duh! I've been telling you that since you met :~)
To: TalonDJ
Yeah, you're a youngling, at least to me. I'm
old.
And Jen is right ... no mid-life crises until you're fifty! Then you can buy the bright red sports car ...

I'm not sure I did post that link... um... and you probably oughta email it to your mom, you know.
You know it's Monday when: sentence starts "We need to get all of our heads into one" and then the only thing either member of the conversation can say to finish it is "basket". Not a good mixed metaphor.

Since I am really bored at work and can't seem to boot up my brain I will post basement commentary.
So we got onto the mudding phase, a week and a half or so back and it has been fairly slow. Around the same time we decided that it was pretty chill down there (because it has been so cold here, which is normal this time of year) so during our bit 4 hour Menards run last week (ever lose track of time in the big do-it-yourself stores? The wallet tends to need CPR afterward) we got this little electric fake fireplace. It looked pretty nice and puts out pretty good heat so we just had to have it. So have combined the 'bar' plan with the fireplace idea. The thing was, when sitting on the hypothetical couch facing the future TV there would be a wall to your left and a big open area into the unfinished laundry room to the right. It just did not feel right so after some thinking we decided to put a half wall across a little over half the opening. This quickly mutated into a sort of bar top or built-in table thing. On the laundry room side it will over hang a foot and have stools under it and on the theater side it has almost no overhand and there is a fireplace built into it with a built in bookshelf next to it. On Sunday I got the construction of it far enough along to have the bottom of the hearth and for the fireplace to get put into it. Still a lot to do but now it is starting to look like how it will be. It should do a lot to make the room feel less like a converted basement and more like a living space.

Plus by the time he's fifty we should have some teens that he can seriously embarrass with his crisis.
