The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

'course, he was playing a kind of jaded, worn-out, worn-down Neo ...

That's a great description of Keanu's Constantine character! We really enjoyed that movie! Another film with Keanu that SirKit loves is The Devil's Advocate. Not MY favorite movie; gives me the creeps, which, I guess, is the goal.

Here's a picture of my AR15 with the Midwest Industries free-float handguard. The bottom rail is removed, showing the clamp around the barrel nut that anchors the rear end of the handguard.

Another view, giving a better idea of how everything clamps to the barrel nut with four hugh cap screws. The handguard is a cantilever that doesn't touch anything else on the rifle.

Finally, a view from the front. The front bracket doesn't touch any part of the barrel. It's just there to provide an attachment point for the bottom rail.

I always wanted a free-float handguard for accuracy purposes. I just wasn't ready to remove the barrel in order to install one. Cutting off the delta ring in order to install this clamp-on style is a piece of cake, in my opinion, compared to removing and replacing the barrel.

Winmag; most excellent photos - that appears to be a better solution than a barrel removal and reinstallation. Thanks very much for posting them.

Sam, you intend to post your 'build along' narrative and photos when you do it, doncha?

I am very excited about this. Myself and others on the department will help to provide security. More details to follow. Hopefully I can get a picture or something.

We went on another walk today at another trailhead, this one was short though, the gun club was real active next door, and it was fixing to drive Homer nuts. We'll go back again during the week.

Did take this pic though of trees down around the trailhead... Posed Gidget on this one, 57 rings.

Tell Gidget I don't care if she ~does~ have a picture. I don't believe she brought that tree down all by herself.

Afternoon Hair - thanks for the photo and ring count; nice growth rate. Excellent picture of Gidget. Lot's of good salvage in those trees.

Here's the rest of the one Gidget was on :~)

And here's the other side of the ones that were across the road.

You guys inspired me to go on a walk of my own, though I just went to the Chehalis Western trail. Lot of trees down along that trail, too, though nothing quite so impressive as the ones you've posted.

We're back, Cisco's tired enough to settle down for awhile, and I need to do laundry and pretty soon start dinner (green chili) simmering.

I've been putting together my garden plan...can't decide whether it's worth fighting the squirrels for strawberries or not.
