Lewisville is a good location. It's located just north of DFW airport at hwy 121. Plus, if you don't wish to live in Lewisville, there are plenty places to live that are out of the way, but close enough to commute. There are some real ritzy places around there too, but for the most part it's middle class suburbs. It's getting difficult these days to get a piece of land because of all the housing developments going up in my area. I have an idea of what you might like. I'll keep an eye out for suggestions for you.
Ha! Which tells you exactly how much conversation I've had, I reckon.
That heavy cutting was probably done by DNR with the prison work crews. There's a state min security prison inside the forest. They do all the heavy duty stuff with installing drainage and bridges, and cutting trees. Winter is their prime time for that kind of maintenance, and I guess they probably have to get the trail clear before they can even survey it to see what needs done.
Wow, those tress are amazing. In some of your older pictures of the trail, I didn't realize how large the trees were. Now that they're down and you can see the sawed off trunks... You get a better idea of how tall and how old the tress were that fell. Shoot, you could saw off a "small" cut from one of the tress and make a breakfast table top!
Pam. She's having quite the time of things. Lots of surgery to rebuild an ankle that's been messed up from a prior motorcycle accident.
That section was almost mature timber, some of it probably would have been logged in the next few years... I think they'll probably go through and recover what they can of what went down. I think this summer's riding will be a little different than past years, lots of logging activity going on!
Huh! I barely remember Pam, I think! well, that's fun. Been riding your bike? gonna be ready to trail ride with us in a few months? :~)
You've got freepmail.
You know, Steve got a job alert for a position located "North Slope, Alaska".
I gotta say...if I had to move to Alaska...I think I'd rather live on the "South Slope" at least....
Oh yeah, no....
I just googled it.
North Slope ain't gonna happen.
No? Too cold?
Yep.
Although, I bet it pays incredibly well!
Yeah, snakes in a bar. I don't know why there are rattle snakes in the bar, but there are and have been for a long time. They are caged behind glass in a special aquarium in the wall.
You can see the bar in some of Rose's pictures in the background. The full name is the Dixie Chicken, "The Chicken" for short. Everyone down there knows what you mean when you just say The Chicken. It's right across the (very busy) street from the university.
Well...it's different! Some places have fish, but...hm. Interesting.
You know... in a place like that you could have a lot of fun with a rubber snake.
Certainly 2J.... everyone, please see 2J's post above.
Just after I received the emai...literally just now...three Blackhawks flew over my house. The jedis and I just stood with our hands on our hearts and watched them.
Aw! Nuts.
