Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
So, it was strep. Not quite over yet. Got some things done anyway.
Ungh...no fun! I had strep a few years back, and it totally, totally wipes you out. Misery. Hope you got some good antibiotics!

Just got a call from g'nad. They're doin' well. They bought a generator so they've got some electricity back.
Phone lines are still down so he can't get online yet. He called on the cell.
They're expecting another hit this weekend. But they're prepared for it.
He says thanks for the prayers and concern from everyone.
Thanks for letting us know. I'm glad they've got power again.
Now that they've got the generator they'll get power and probably not lose it again for five years :~)
Thanks for the update, glad they got the generator.
Nayber lady put plastic over her car.
Just now?? Six hours after the snow starts??
Naaahhh....sometime this afternoon just after she got in for the day.
I just thought it looked funny...never seen snow drape over the back end of a car before.
Oh, okay, that makes more sense!!
I was looking out at the snow and noticed folds of snow draped over the tail lights. Hmmmm......
I'm sure someone wonders why there are three pieces of firewood on the tops of our vehicles.
(answer: to hold down the tarp covering the windshield)
You mean your vehicles don't run on

wood alcohol?
heh, haven't tried that..
g'nite OT & HH
'Night!
meh. Penecillin'll kill me, and the other stuff is way spendy. Or so I hear.
Tea and aspirin for me :)
I guess I'm lucky I'm not allergic to penicillin, then.
When I had strep, I spent close to a week just getting worse and worse...couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, and everything hurt. I had my first dose of penicillin, and felt as though the sky opened and the angels sang... It was amazing how fast that stuff worked. Glorious.
I've been doing gunsmithing on "exact replacement" parts so they can fit exactly enough to replace the originals. I didn't want to spend $250 for the H&K walnut target grip for the PSG1, so I bought the $50 American plastic knockoff. It only took an hour to clean up the mold lines, and grind the relief in the back of the grip so it fits like it should.
It was actually quite calming, except for muttering about quality control. When done, I had a 17+ pound example of late-40's design made in the late 70's, with late-90's plastics.
The folding stock comes in handy in a couple of different ways. First, since the Smith Industries vortex flash hider is 3 inches longer than stock, the rifle would not fit in its case any more with the fixed stock. Also, the shape of the stock lets me use a "cheek weld" on the iron sights, and a "chin weld" to see through the scope.
A definite "machine age" weapon, as opposed to the "information age" PS90. But the H&K-91 has a purpose to serve. Carrying it several miles is not one of them, in my book.
How are you doing over there?
