The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Maybe we're already past postmodernism, too.

Trying to come up with a name for "after postmodernism" is just impossible. The comic book world uses the retcon tool to just re-name the previous Modern Age to something else. That way, what's current is always called "Modern", and you never need a "post-Modern".

he considered it an honor to attend them and further said that "the highest ranking military man here (at the funeral) was the young soldier lying in the coffin"

What a wonderful thing for the General to say. I'm sure having him there made PFC N's wife feel really special.

The PFC was a handsome man, and she's a lovely lady. I'm so sorry that she had to lose him so young. My heart just breaks for her.

Thank you again for attending, and letting her know that we're thinking of her and keeping her in our prayers.

I forgot to mention, before I went to the visitation, I wrote down my mailing address and phone number and email address, also the URL for Free Republic, gave it to her and invited her to join and come to the Hobbit Hole and let her know that we would support her in any way we could. Also letting her know that this is a free web site.

She sounded interested but didn't say that she would or not.

My problem with frameless is that I already don't have eyebrows as it is...darker frames help with that a bit.

We've gotten Joseph last two paris of glasses at Wally World. Just take your prescription to them. The shop is at the front of the store, and they usually have a wide selection of frames at pretty good prices.

Thank you for representing the Hobbit Hole.

I emailed Mrs. N., and asked her if she had the names of honor guard and other military representatives at the funeral. If I can get some contact information, they will all get some small token of our large appreciation from the Hobbit Hole.

Of all the power tools my dad has given to me for Christmas and birthdays, a chainsaw, which we clearly could use, has always been a line he didn't want to cross, I think because I once nearly cut off my finger with a hedge trimmer. ;~) With a chain saw, I could cut off my whole foot with the same slip. I think now that I have a husband, maybe eventually we'll qualify for one :~)

I've been kind of amazed at you guys' weather this winter.

Us too. This has been a heck of a year. I don't like it and I long for Spring.

Thank you, we would of course love to hear from her. I'm really glad you went to the service and could share that with us.

Thanks for the tip...may brave the place tomorrow. We'll see. It may not make much sense to go until I get back from the wedding.

I don't know how quickly they can get them done for you; they're certainly not a one-hour place. If you go ahead and get the order in, they'll be ready when you get back from the wedding.

I guess if they came in while I was gone, it wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't get back for a few days to get them.

So I might could do that.

Hopefully I can at least get some idea of pricing tomorrow.

Just let them know when you place the order that you'd like for them to hold them for you, and that you will call them. I think it took about a week for Joseph's glasses.

Yeah - it couldn't get a lot wetter. Apparently the winds still may come during the day today, we'll see. :~)
