In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
galvanic \gal-VAN-ik\, adjective
1. Of, pertaining to, or producing a direct current of electricity, especially when produced chemically.
2. Affecting or affected as if by an electric shock; startling; shocking.
3. Stimulating; energizing.
Example sentences:
Reading the epic known to us as the Iliad is vastly different from the preliterate experience of hearing and seeing it performed. In place of the bard's galvanic flow of sound and image, the reader beholds a mute tome, the size of longish novel.
-- Michael E. Hobart and Zachary S. Schiffman, Information Ages
Hemingway's letters, which often seem to have been dashed off at the end of the day, display little of the galvanic style that animated his early (and finest) fiction.
-- Michiko Kakutani, "Tone It Down, He Urged Hemingway", New York Times, November 19, 1996
Etymology:
Galvanic is derived from Luigi Galvani, a professor of physiology at Bologna, whose experiments established the presence of bioelectric forces in animal tissue.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
As long as we don't look like we're aging, and none of us do, it's all good. ;)
What's a gumband?
Thanks Robert. How about our basketball team this year? They are looking mighty good.
You might know it by the syllable-wasting name "rubber band."
Thank you Miss Rika! We miss you.
Thank you tiger. Did you have a nice birthday this week?
gum is what holds up one's undergutchies....
I was thinking more like The Archies.
Two out of three isn't bad....hobbes is really showing some wear and tear. ;^)
You'll just have to take our word for it Robert. I will add that while I was upset that my vision was getting a bit blurry, I'm beginning to see the value in it as I pass another birthday. It's kind of like those glamour photos... ;^)
To quote Ford Fairlane,
"I do all the work in Bed"
Yeah, in your dreams... ;^)
Be careful, a while back the croqs would go into a frenzy at the mention of tile or linoleum.
That's one way to get the croqs in here to click on your link.
I'm not making light of the situation at all, but as I read the article I couldn't help thinking about how these bandits sounded like the same kind of creeps that kidnapped Jake's grandson.
Merry Christmas Miss Rika! (in 25 days anyway)
