The "Madoption" row - surrounding the pop star's adoption of a 13-month-old Malawian boy - has her so on edge that she's even starting to round on her celebrity friends.
Madonna adopted David Banda last month and has received nothing but negative criticism ever since, with some critics even accusing her of buying the baby.
It's understandable that Her Madgesty, 48, is upset at the backlash but surely there's no need to take it out on her showbiz compatriots.
A source has revealed that Singer Gwen Stefani, 37, who gave birth to her son Kingston in May, sent Madge a present of some outfits from her Lamb fashion range for baby David.
But we're told: "She politely thanked Gwen but called her to say she and Guy disagree on the children wearing clothes that blatantly promote people's personal brands. She was touched but wasn't sure if Gwen was secretly trying to get publicity by sending her the gift."
Madonna has also called up Angelina Jolie and expressed disappointment, saying it isn't fair that she has to suffer accusations when others - such as 31-year-old Angelina and Brad, 42 - are free to live their lives and adopt two babies from overseas without any accusatory glances or comments.
We're told: "Madonna just doesn't understand why she's been such a target here. She's not the first celebrity to adopt a baby but no one else is being treated like this. All she wants now is to get on with her life and her new family."
The source said: "Madonna has been quite short lately. Everyone really has to watch their words around her. She's quick to anger and it's got those around her on edge. She's very sensitive to comments or questions about the adoption. It's at the point now where she just wants to live her life in peace."
Madonna is keeping track of who has phoned to wish her well and who hasn't. The source added: "She's a big one for loyalty and those who haven't come out to support her in some way are definitely off the Christmas list. It seems she's so under pressure that the littlest thing upsets her."
I guess I'm on her "naughty" list....'cause I haven't called her in months, let alone to congratulate her.
I don't know if this is allowed, but people who love to gossip call her Vadge. You know, she's Madge in the UK, and she loves to show her.. (*ahem*), hence the namesake.
Can we also export Whorelina & Cad as well?
Yeah, that's all she wants to do...well, that, and infuriate Christians all over the world.
She looks like she's wearing clown shoes there. I'm serious! She looks like a clown!
I guess I won't send her one of my new "Like a Virgin" brand wool sweaters, then.
Gee, Vadge is short with people around her. Guess I better not call either, because I would tell her to be strong, be a man, uh wait, you know what I mean.
"Vadges? We don't need no stinkin' vadges!"
The polite thing would have been to simply say 'Thank you.' I know when I send someone a gift I'm not expecting a personal political lecture in return; if I got one that'd be the last time I ever sent them anything.

Isn't 48 a little old to be pouting and throwing your toys out of the crib, stomping around and whining how UNFAIR it is? Geez, grow up.
