A mothers letter to Sen Kerry
from a fallen marines mom

Posted on 11/08/2006 11:05:59 AM PST by LC HOGHEAD

Senator Kerry Nov. 1, 2006

Damn you. You are a bumbling idiot. My son, Cory, left the Computer Engineering Program at West Virginia University, a superlative educational institution to volunteer to serve in the United States Marine Corps. He made it to Recon in less than one year, completing over a dozen schools, finishing with top scores in every single one of them. Cory, along with every Recon Marine, was/is a brilliant young man. They all volunteered - there is no draft as there was when you were in the Armed Forces. Cory, along with 3 other Recon Marines, died as the result of an IED explosion in May, 2006. These men, along with their peers, are superior in intellect. How dare you dishonor them by your careless words? You are a stupid, self-absorbed, fool.

I am not speaking as a member of any political party - in fact; I support more democrats at this juncture than republicans. But I loathe the disdain you display for my son and those whose magnificent service was given for something they held so dear to their hearts - freedom. I pray that your political future is doomed. You are a detriment to every democrat with whom you associate. If in deed, your words were, as you say, intended as a joke, then you are heartless. My son's life is certainly more than a joke. He and these almost 3,000 young men and women who have died with him, are much more valued and loved than to be used as pawns in your own petty political pundits. You were not misunderstood. You were clearly heard and understood by us all. You were on national television. You are utterly disrespectful of our sons and of us, their families. I will work tirelessly to bring you down. You discredit every member of the Armed Forces. Not only are these troops more savvy than ever before in history, so are their commanding officers, many of whom have advanced educational degrees. You, John Kerry, are nothing but scum. Spare us from the further desecration of our troops and the superlative military minds that truly do serve our nation. Remove yourself from the limelight and step down from office, NOW.

VERY sincerely,

Mrs. Danna Swain Palmer, Proud Mom of Fallen Marine,

Cpl. Cory Leonard Palmer, USMC, Recon

May 10, 1984 - May 6 - 2006

If Kerry had not opened his mouth the GOP would have lost 10 more seats in the House and one or two more in the Senate.

haven't seen him around...?

That's not a bad thing. ;-)

He had to go into hiding to prevent any more damage before the elections. Now that they've 'won', he'll be back to take credit and ramble on in his self-important way.

Um - Mrs. Palmer? - - um - - many Democrats feel the same way John Kerry does about our military. They just don't publicize it because it's bad for the party that wants to surrender and let the crazies slaughter great numbers of the Iraqi population.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Sadly, Kerry doesn't care about us. My husband is an AD Marine about to head to Iraq, and Kerry is (shudder) my senator. I wrote him a polite but strongly worded letter myself, and have yet to hear a thing, and I am one of the people from the state he actually "claims" to represent.

For the first time in my life, I am ashamed of being from Massachusetts, and my husband is desperate to change his legal state of residence on his next enlistment. And yes Senator Kerry, he will be reenlisting again. He has much more dedication to his country and fellow servicemen and women than you have in your smallest finger.

We, as a military family, have had to listen to our share of crap about my dh's choices for the past 9 years, but this was the first time it ever felt like such a betrayal.

Again, I am so sorry for your loss, LC HOGHEAD.

I have to admit - I have been very disappointed with the whole Iraq situation - as a Patriot I felt our country had no business there and we should have nuked Afghanistan. I was mad at Bush and I voted against him last election because I felt N Korea and Bin Laden presented more of a threat than Saddam ever did.

These last comments of Kerry's however are beyond the pale. Were he to have apologized immediately and genuinely that maybe, maybe would have mollified my anger somewhat. But he didn't ... he is an arrogant SOB who needs to learn some humility and never ever should be considered for President by any party. Frankly, he should resign his Senate post or at the very least not run for re-election. To come out fighting after such an obvious gaff that only deserved the words "My goodness, I screwed up and I am so so sorry ... that is not what I meant to say or imply at all", is the sign of someone who would have happily made a mistake of invading a wrong country or otherwise and then claim he is right.

He has no character and will not tell the truth. He is a slimy politician just like the lot of them. The only problem is he attacked the military which is risking life and limb to execute commands given them by a democratically elected government - right or wrong - they do not choose the missions and deserve the utmost of respect and honour always. Theirs is the toughest job and least well compensated and they don't need an arrogant guy like Kerry putting them down while being paid from their tax dollars.

To you and all of the service members and their families - THANK YOU for your service.

"Jon Carry" doesn't speak for anyone with more than half a brain in this country. Please forgive me for thinking poorly of folks from MA in the past because of the caliber of that state's Senators. I know there are some decent folks left there - but we rarely hear of them.

I'm sorry but you wanted an apology like what???? Never would I have accepted that just like I didn't accept his botched joke crap. He knew what he was saying, he knew why he was saying it and he MEANT it. I'm sorry but this "I'll just apologize for it later and do it now" attitude that has swept the nation is the biggest bunch of crap I ever seen. No one is held accountable for anything anymore because they just apologized for it. What a laugh.

I for one make mistakes - honest ones. Some of them are even verbal gaffs. As a Christian, I have no problem with an apology - especially if it is issued before they are caught. Not like Ted Haggard claiming to not know a man and then when he's caught apologizing.

I disagree with you in that if he had apologized quickly and immediately after making his verbal gaff, it wouldn't solve the problem but it would help. He didn't, he fought and argued and passed blame, and I think Kerry lost all respect by only apologizing after he was caught and pressured to by many from the opposition and his own party.

Well, in the letter I wrote him, it wasn't so much asking for apology as addressing the issue that he kept pushing, how it was all just Replublicans bashing him and that no one that hadn't served had no business complaining.

I wrote asking him to explain himself to my husband and to me then, because according to his own guidelines, my family can't be blamed for attacking him with no basis. So to that, I asked him to respond to me then, since according to him, my husband and I had every right to ask.

I honestly didn't want an apology. I knew it wouldn't be sincere. I was just calling him on his own tantrum. He was basing all his indignity on the fact that people who had no business questioning him were doing so. I just wanted to be clear that I knew he was full of crap.

I'm pretty angry that he never responded though. Not because I wanted an apology or even expected an acknowledgement, but because I am one of his constituents. So now I know that we don't matter to him on two levels. As a military family and as a family of constituents. My oldest daughter will be able to vote in the next election, and she can't wait to vote against him. ;)
