We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
First--Virginia.
Sad to say, not going to get there.
With 99.75% of the precincts reporting (side note, this is supposed to be an electronic state--there are still outstanding votes?)...
Allen: -0.36%
Pricincts Out: 6
Estimated Votes Remaning: 6,000
Allen Deficit: 8,359
What is interesting is that all of the late precincts, which are predominately early voters, are breaking heavily for Webb--90% or better in most cases. With the remaining votes, if they continue to break for Webb, there won't be an automatic recount.
The big story in the state? The marriage amendment. Time and again in precinct decomposition, it could be seen that predominately black precincts were going overwhelmingly for the amendment, but the same precincts were trouncing Allen. Conclusion--black congregations turned out big time to vote for marriage. While there, heck, punch the screen for Webb. Kind of ironic--a iconic conservative issue does in the conservative.
Frankly, it's hard to say there's something up, because "early voting" areas do, in fact, correlate with blue areas. We'll see.
Now, for the rest of the story.
It is looking like the RAT party will have somewhere around 230 seats in the 110th Congress. We will have Speaker Pelosi, and chairmans of the ilk that includes Rangell, Waxman, Conyers, Dingell, and so on.
In the Senate--it's up to Virginia and Montana. If we win one of those states, the senate has 50 Republicans. If we win both, 51. Again, there's a certain sanguinity about Virginia. Montana's not that great either, though there's only about 2,000 votes separating the two, with the RAT leading, 91% in, with about 32,000 votes left to count. Obviously, if we lose both, we lose the Senate.
Some good news out of all this--many of the liberal Republicans in the Senate are gone. This will give us the opportunity to build up a solid conservative foundation on the Senate side. In the House, we've got to find Newt II, though with a bit more suave than Newt.
Moving forward, the media says the election was about Iraq, immigration, and corruption. Forget the last two. By the time folks rolled into the ballot box, the corruption surrounding, for example, Foley had faded into the past. Immigration is rather neutral, actually. It had enough proponets and detractors that it probably washed out.
Then there's Iraq. The media, naturally, says the vote was against being in Iraq.
Nope, wrong answer. The correct thing is people are wanting to GET IT DONE! They don't see progress, but then media types haven't been to good at showing progress. The prediction here is that it'll be like the homeless, not a problem now that RATS are in charge somewhere. They have a plan, after all. (By the way, when it's found, ping the assembled.)
But, as usual, the media got it half right. People, in my opinion, and based on those I have talked to, see America over-focused on Iraq. Can't say as I blame them. President Bush said there were three entities in the Axis of Evil, Iraq, Iran, and North Korea. We eliminated one, but what about the other two?
One went on and developed nuclear weapons, the other is on its way. That's scaring the bejesus out of the average American, particularly as they see the United States being relatively impotent on the matter. We keep yapping, but they keep right on with their nuclear programs. The American people, I would argue, demand action in these areas; Iraq would be much less of an issue if we could address Iran and North Korea.
The other piece of good news is we still have over 40 Senators. The RATS will now learn how hard it is to run the Senate.
Short run prediction, the White House will trot up a budget in February for fiscal year 2008 that will have bunches of goodies in it, daring the House to say "no". It is the opening shot of the 2008 campaign.
And what about the 2008 campaign? Here's the really big message from last night. It is clear that coattails are back in play. Whoever runs in 2008 will have them. We need a big time, brand name Republican to run for the White House.
At the moment, the marquis is empty. Looking for volunteers.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
Agree. And there MUST be celebrations in all al-Quaeda cells and camps.
Back after lunch.
99.84% in (4 precincts still out)
Allen (-0.30%)
Vote Deficit: 7,046
Votes Remaining: 4,000 (estimated)
Recount Margin Threshold: 11,846 (est.)
Maximum Possible Spread: 11,046
We won't get there from here...
...there will be a recount in Virginia.
And guess what? Iraq and President Bush were not responsible for the loss according to exit polls. It was that the pubs continued to spend far too much money.
David Limbaugh and Michael Ledeen on my local radio show are criticizing Rich Lowry and others for abandoning the war and their criticism of the President running up to the election. Good.
They will probally set up recruitment centers over here....
Yeah and there were several other 'ex politicians' who bashed the president too.
Good! He's no friend of ours.
Whoa! A woman in Pa called Glenn. Glenn supported Santorum. She was hot against Santorum (normally conservative) because of his Specter support. Fine..fine, but where are we because of people like you , woman??
Guess what I did for the first time in months?
Bought one dozen of eggs. They were on sale for 68 cents. ;-)
Glenn says... it was actually a win for a 2 term President..historically...not a massive victory for dems. He only wishes that the loss was to alien life form instead of Pelosi. LOL
Let me add due to the exit poll data.
Glenn: President Bush, Pelosi, and Lieberman should say..we are no less going to keep nailing you to the wall re:ME...It should be done immediately!
He wants Lieberman to build a coalition across both side of the aisle and state that.
If only that would happen.
Thanks Peach. My tv is off until then.
I haven't turned the television on with the exception of when I first got up to see if we kept the Senate. I still don't know the answer to that and expect we don't until the recounts.
And, like you, I have no intention of watching ANY news for several weeks, unless the president is giving a speech. I won't listen to the gloating and the pundits and that includes Brit Hume who is someone I have never missed unless I was out of the house at 6:00.
I am taking off for a little trip...............should return tonight with some VERY good news.:)
Have a great day!!!
I'm happy for your news, Mozie. You give that wonderful son a big hug from all of us.
It's amazing how much can be done around the house when no tv is on and I check in once in a while on FR!
I have a big trash bag of discard items and I've changed and rearranged a few items in the bedroom. Today is not a total wash!
...And the sun will set tonight and it will rise tomorrow. ;-)
Guennie, what was the last line Scarlett said in Gone With the Wind?
Being a northern gal I would say..Oh what the heck..tomorrow is a new day. LOL
Trust me. I'm not taking this lightly. I'm re-grouping . I'm not going to mourn....dems mourn!
You are so right, my heart really goes out to the men, women, and families of our servicemen. I see a big dip in volunteerism and who would blame them with the prospect of cut and run dems in charge of funding them.
