We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
First--Virginia.
Sad to say, not going to get there.
With 99.75% of the precincts reporting (side note, this is supposed to be an electronic state--there are still outstanding votes?)...
Allen: -0.36%
Pricincts Out: 6
Estimated Votes Remaning: 6,000
Allen Deficit: 8,359
What is interesting is that all of the late precincts, which are predominately early voters, are breaking heavily for Webb--90% or better in most cases. With the remaining votes, if they continue to break for Webb, there won't be an automatic recount.
The big story in the state? The marriage amendment. Time and again in precinct decomposition, it could be seen that predominately black precincts were going overwhelmingly for the amendment, but the same precincts were trouncing Allen. Conclusion--black congregations turned out big time to vote for marriage. While there, heck, punch the screen for Webb. Kind of ironic--a iconic conservative issue does in the conservative.
Frankly, it's hard to say there's something up, because "early voting" areas do, in fact, correlate with blue areas. We'll see.
Now, for the rest of the story.
It is looking like the RAT party will have somewhere around 230 seats in the 110th Congress. We will have Speaker Pelosi, and chairmans of the ilk that includes Rangell, Waxman, Conyers, Dingell, and so on.
In the Senate--it's up to Virginia and Montana. If we win one of those states, the senate has 50 Republicans. If we win both, 51. Again, there's a certain sanguinity about Virginia. Montana's not that great either, though there's only about 2,000 votes separating the two, with the RAT leading, 91% in, with about 32,000 votes left to count. Obviously, if we lose both, we lose the Senate.
Some good news out of all this--many of the liberal Republicans in the Senate are gone. This will give us the opportunity to build up a solid conservative foundation on the Senate side. In the House, we've got to find Newt II, though with a bit more suave than Newt.
Moving forward, the media says the election was about Iraq, immigration, and corruption. Forget the last two. By the time folks rolled into the ballot box, the corruption surrounding, for example, Foley had faded into the past. Immigration is rather neutral, actually. It had enough proponets and detractors that it probably washed out.
Then there's Iraq. The media, naturally, says the vote was against being in Iraq.
Nope, wrong answer. The correct thing is people are wanting to GET IT DONE! They don't see progress, but then media types haven't been to good at showing progress. The prediction here is that it'll be like the homeless, not a problem now that RATS are in charge somewhere. They have a plan, after all. (By the way, when it's found, ping the assembled.)
But, as usual, the media got it half right. People, in my opinion, and based on those I have talked to, see America over-focused on Iraq. Can't say as I blame them. President Bush said there were three entities in the Axis of Evil, Iraq, Iran, and North Korea. We eliminated one, but what about the other two?
One went on and developed nuclear weapons, the other is on its way. That's scaring the bejesus out of the average American, particularly as they see the United States being relatively impotent on the matter. We keep yapping, but they keep right on with their nuclear programs. The American people, I would argue, demand action in these areas; Iraq would be much less of an issue if we could address Iran and North Korea.
The other piece of good news is we still have over 40 Senators. The RATS will now learn how hard it is to run the Senate.
Short run prediction, the White House will trot up a budget in February for fiscal year 2008 that will have bunches of goodies in it, daring the House to say "no". It is the opening shot of the 2008 campaign.
And what about the 2008 campaign? Here's the really big message from last night. It is clear that coattails are back in play. Whoever runs in 2008 will have them. We need a big time, brand name Republican to run for the White House.
At the moment, the marquis is empty. Looking for volunteers.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
Exactly!!!
And it doesn't need to be noted, either. They just need do it! Perception is powerful.
I will be rooting with you but for Booby Flay. His ccoking makes more sense to me. Mario has been using Vietnamese inspired recipes on last season's American Iron Chef. I am a BIG fan of yhe orinal Iron Chefs - Japanese version - they cooked the grossest (sp? Illstillbe help me out here!) stuff, but I loved the gossiping they did with the judges.
OTOH, I think when we do the "warm and fuzzy" approach, we also can't associate that approach with liberal ideas. That will translate to libs getting elected 'cause they'll always do it better with the help of the old media.
I just can't help thinking we are in for a big terrorist attck at home, because they know the dems will just issue a lawsuit against them for daqmages.
No doubt they are taking stock, CS. But the President is still the President...2 more years ...
We will now be attacked 'sooner rather than later'. The Terror Alert should be immediately elevated to 'Orange'.
I would sure like to see this talk about 'warm and fuzzy' come to a screeching HALT! Are we going to stand up for our rock-ribbed conservative beliefs or we going to jellyfish to their 'warm and fuzzy'?
That's the scariest part, 2/3.
Don't feel like the Lone Ranger.......A lot of us get no response sometimes.
You can feel the love though, right?
;o)
I am just glad I live on an island out here. Nothing out here to see. I know the Iraqis who cooperated with our military as interpreters and etc. are really worried we mqay pull out.
What the hell is going on with our party and our constituents? Are we truly going to destroy ourselves from within or are we going to muster ourselves together and beat this evil that is blasting us in the face and taunting us?
Was it on this thread? I am inclined to agree with you. I am sure ALL profiling will cease now at airports so we don't hurt feelings.
I'll never be a jellyfish when it comes to my conservatism. When I share it with stupids, I'll just try not to scream and holler at them.
;o/
When we won in 2000 and in 2004, we simply declared victory and got on with business. They are gloating, rubbing our faces in their vomit, and gleefully rejoicing that they have taken over America. Who, among us, is going to stand up to this evil?
I hear you, L. I hear you loud and clear.
ALL of us will stand up to this evil.
We always do.
Of course WE HERE all will stand up to this evil. Who, in the leadership of our Republican Party, has the strength to stand up to this EVIL?
I have to fly back and forth to SC in a couple of weeks and I get nervous seeing the aviation alert at red! I cannot tell you how nervous it made me in the Mancherster, England airport in September to see women in burquas walking through the terminal!
No one. The ones that could were voted out of office.
There's not a whole lot of leadership going on in the Republican party right now. Hasn't been for a long time.
That's a BIG part of the problem!
