We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
First--Virginia.
Sad to say, not going to get there.
With 99.75% of the precincts reporting (side note, this is supposed to be an electronic state--there are still outstanding votes?)...
Allen: -0.36%
Pricincts Out: 6
Estimated Votes Remaning: 6,000
Allen Deficit: 8,359
What is interesting is that all of the late precincts, which are predominately early voters, are breaking heavily for Webb--90% or better in most cases. With the remaining votes, if they continue to break for Webb, there won't be an automatic recount.
The big story in the state? The marriage amendment. Time and again in precinct decomposition, it could be seen that predominately black precincts were going overwhelmingly for the amendment, but the same precincts were trouncing Allen. Conclusion--black congregations turned out big time to vote for marriage. While there, heck, punch the screen for Webb. Kind of ironic--a iconic conservative issue does in the conservative.
Frankly, it's hard to say there's something up, because "early voting" areas do, in fact, correlate with blue areas. We'll see.
Now, for the rest of the story.
It is looking like the RAT party will have somewhere around 230 seats in the 110th Congress. We will have Speaker Pelosi, and chairmans of the ilk that includes Rangell, Waxman, Conyers, Dingell, and so on.
In the Senate--it's up to Virginia and Montana. If we win one of those states, the senate has 50 Republicans. If we win both, 51. Again, there's a certain sanguinity about Virginia. Montana's not that great either, though there's only about 2,000 votes separating the two, with the RAT leading, 91% in, with about 32,000 votes left to count. Obviously, if we lose both, we lose the Senate.
Some good news out of all this--many of the liberal Republicans in the Senate are gone. This will give us the opportunity to build up a solid conservative foundation on the Senate side. In the House, we've got to find Newt II, though with a bit more suave than Newt.
Moving forward, the media says the election was about Iraq, immigration, and corruption. Forget the last two. By the time folks rolled into the ballot box, the corruption surrounding, for example, Foley had faded into the past. Immigration is rather neutral, actually. It had enough proponets and detractors that it probably washed out.
Then there's Iraq. The media, naturally, says the vote was against being in Iraq.
Nope, wrong answer. The correct thing is people are wanting to GET IT DONE! They don't see progress, but then media types haven't been to good at showing progress. The prediction here is that it'll be like the homeless, not a problem now that RATS are in charge somewhere. They have a plan, after all. (By the way, when it's found, ping the assembled.)
But, as usual, the media got it half right. People, in my opinion, and based on those I have talked to, see America over-focused on Iraq. Can't say as I blame them. President Bush said there were three entities in the Axis of Evil, Iraq, Iran, and North Korea. We eliminated one, but what about the other two?
One went on and developed nuclear weapons, the other is on its way. That's scaring the bejesus out of the average American, particularly as they see the United States being relatively impotent on the matter. We keep yapping, but they keep right on with their nuclear programs. The American people, I would argue, demand action in these areas; Iraq would be much less of an issue if we could address Iran and North Korea.
The other piece of good news is we still have over 40 Senators. The RATS will now learn how hard it is to run the Senate.
Short run prediction, the White House will trot up a budget in February for fiscal year 2008 that will have bunches of goodies in it, daring the House to say "no". It is the opening shot of the 2008 campaign.
And what about the 2008 campaign? Here's the really big message from last night. It is clear that coattails are back in play. Whoever runs in 2008 will have them. We need a big time, brand name Republican to run for the White House.
At the moment, the marquis is empty. Looking for volunteers.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
We (Freepers) are at our best when fighting for conservatism. Think back on the USA v C threads. We (barely) survived the evil '92-2000 and we will survive again. We don't need Fox News or talk radio to see what common sense and decency dicates we think.
There are still about 3,000 votes outstanding, presuming those are the absentees. Won't do it unless things can move on a recount.
Pinging a few of you guys, too.
I know these people.
I'm NOT the woman on the street and I would score for my favorite football team during More-on trivia. Woo hoo!!
Lysie...get a life..fast!!
Can I qoute you on that snarlinbearcub? LOL
ooops snarlincubbear my bad
Oh, I forgot to add Levin. He earns being on the list for both Dubai and Miers.
As of now, I can't stomach FOX NEWS....not ANY of it.
And I don't think that will change.....They left me.
Ha! Good one!
Aside from listening to the president, I haven't had the television on today. Or talk radio. So I'm pretty out of the loop news-wise and liking it that way.
It was wonderful to hear the president tell the jihadists not to take comfort in last night's election, try to comfort the Iraqi people and tell the military how proud we are of them.
He's a far, far better person than I am and I will be eternally grateful to him until the day I die. He made some mistakes, imo, by not publishing in more detail that 7 people in charge of finding Iraq's WMD have said it's likely they were spirited away to Syria pre-war. There is satellite video of convoys leaving known WMD trucks headed to Syria, some of which Powell showed to the UN and the world on television. That would have shut up the left and increased support for the war. It would have also put the left on notice that they were not to lie about important national security matters.
I've been criticized for suggesting some things along those lines for a few years now, even when I point out how much I love the President and would lay down my life for his. But the president has admitted today the buck stops with him, and that he didn't fully understand the duplicity of the media and the leftists speaks to his better nature and my more suspicious and untrusting nature.
I just came back from the library with an armload of non-political and non-geopolitical books and will spend my time more productively (I hope) with my new Altar Guild duties and making sure my sister is introduced to more people and finds friends here.
In the interim, I wish you all here the blessings of the day and the comfort of friends and family.
They all have their problems. I turn them off when I don't agree with the topic. I keep them on when I do agree.
As much as I hate to admit it, sometimes..I'm happy they are on my side...even when we disagree. Sort of like here. We disagree..here on FR, yet most of us are on the same side..I think.
In all honesty, I have far more issues with my father and his side of the family. Granted, my dad doesn't get $$ according to his ratings. He'd be dirt poor if he did. ;-)
I'm hoping those people get drift of when people listen and when they don't.
Frankly I don't think Sean is too bright - he lets too many untruths go unchallenged and usually does not know enough to actually tell someone off.
He has nice hair and a good smile.
LOL..On all accounts..LOL
I sure am missing his radio show these days. For a while, last year he was the only one I listened to. Then slowly, as the election neared, I started listening to all of the rest again. Now, I wish I had not given them the ratings points.
How is the Spellbowl team?
That's exactly what our President wants. For us to be more productive. Not with blinders on, but not super glued either.
Older brother..insisted on it when we were younger. I had no choice.
Than I, too, but I'm happy to know he will come up with a Clymer comment once in a while. After all, he is human.
They are working hard, but all of them but one are new to it this year, and I think underestimated how much studying they had to do. I have been trying to prod them into studying every spare minute, but some of them are just not doing so. We will see. Only the top 8 out of 12 compete in the state meet, so the real slackards won't be dragging the team down. Today we worked on words with double letter...parallelogram, incessant, necessary, etc.
Does anyone know if they ever cook any low calorie food on the Food Network? I swear I can gain weight watching Paula Dean's show...everything is made with butter, mayonnaise, and heavy cream.
