Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people. A ruler who lacks understanding is a cruel oppressor; but he who hates unjust gain will prolong his days. Proverbs 28: 15, 16
With the election coming, I ask those of you who wish to to join me in prayer for the election.
and now we need to comfort our brothers and sisters here on FR who will be grieving.
I fully believe God is in control. But many people will be not looking at it that way.
And the good fights we are called to will still need to be fought.
Lots to do.
My Jesus, I trust in Thee
My Jesus, I trust in thee,
even as the darkness gathers.
My Jesus, I trust in thee,
even as the storm clouds deepen.
My Jesus, I trust in thee,
even when the lightning threatens.
My Jesus, help me trust in thee,
even though my heart quakes.
My Jesus, help me trust in thee
even though you may seem far way.
My Jesus, help me trust in thee,
even though evil seems near.
My Jesus, may I trust in thee,
even when sorrow breaks my heart.
My Jesus, may I trust in thee,
even in the darkness of my grief.
My Jesus, may I trust in thee,
even when I don't understand why.
Looks like God gave us the World Series as a consolation prize. I felt that was a harbinger that we were going to lose Congress.
Wonder how many posters are out and about tonight collecting their thirty pieces of silver.

A SONG IN THE NIGHT
I sing the song of the Underdog,
of the one who has fought, and lost;
of the one who could win if she'd only give in,
but she won't, not matter the cost -
I sing the song of the little man,
of the one who hadn't a chance;
though he knows he was doomed when he walked in the room
he still shows up for the dance
so here's to the anthems of glory
sung sweetest when sung in the night -
Though the darkness be long
We'll defy it with song
'Til God's morning greets us with the Light!
-Becki Snow
Amen, halleluJAH.
Thank you for the ping.
Revive *us* O Lord. *We* follow Jesus. Be real to us and in us so that we may present Reality to this world, amen.
Amen.

Dear Knitting,
I am in agreement with you, and also seriously disgusted with some of my friends who are members of my Church's Intercessory Prayer group who say "it doesn't matter" who won, they're all the same....which is probably how it got that way, because I know there are a number of Christians who just don't get it politically, about judge's appointments and chairmanships, etc...........
They also take a superior attitude spiritually, as if caring about who leads our country is low and carnal...I know them to be uninformed and misinformed and there is nothing else I can say or I look argumentative which just confirms to them their own wisdom. I said to one this morning that while the
Conservatives are not perfect, at least they don't advocate killing babies and men having sex with men......."oh My!" she said, as if reality is too much to speak of.....
I have, along with many, been praying for revival. It may have needed this to drive us to our knees..some of us, that is.....
I remember Daniel's friends; the same ONE is with us now.
Dan 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.
Dan 3:17 If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
Dan 3:18 But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up."
Dan 3:19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury, and the expression of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was usually heated.
Dan 3:20 And he ordered some of the mighty men of his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
Dan 3:21 Then these men were bound in their cloaks, their tunics, their hats, and their other garments, and they were thrown into the burning fiery furnace.
Dan 3:22 Because the king's order was urgent and the furnace overheated, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
Dan 3:23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell bound into the burning fiery furnace.
Dan 3:24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished and rose up in haste. He declared to his counselors, "Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?" They answered and said to the king, "True, O king."
Dan 3:25 He answered and said, "But I see four men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods."
Dan 3:26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the burning fiery furnace; he declared, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here!" Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out from the fire.
Dan 3:27 And the satraps, the prefects, the governors, and the king's counselors gathered together and saw that the fire had not had any power over the bodies of those men. The hair of their heads was not singed, their cloaks were not harmed, and no smell of fire had come upon them.
Dan 3:28 Nebuchadnezzar answered and said, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and delivered his servants, who trusted in him, and set aside the king's command, and yielded up their bodies rather than serve and worship any god except their own God.
Dan 3:29 Therefore I make a decree: Any people, nation, or language that speaks anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego shall be torn limb from limb, and their houses laid in ruins, for there is no other god who is able to rescue in this way."
Standing up for the right always matters.
The best, I suspect, we can do is stand up for it, encourage those whose lives we come in contact to do the same, and leave the rest in God's hands.
I wanted us to win, but I most ferverently prayed, "not my will, but Yours."
If we couldn't hold the house, then God has his reasons - perhaps to teach the US a lesson, or to allow some other deed to take place, or even to set up a conflict for the '08 election cycle. I don't see with God's eyes. What I have to do is keep stepping out in faith and trying to do the right thing. to be salt and light and leaven even when the way is uncomfortable or hard.
I am sure your example plants seeds. God will send the water, and if the soil is right, they will sprout.
I ask that You would calm our troubled hearts this morning , especially those of us that have gathered in this prayer room, crying out to You. We acknowlege our sin, and ask for forgiveness. In wrath, remember mercy O Lord. Teach us Your ways O Lord. Use these troubles for Your Glory and Honor. Bring America back to her knees. May a great and mighty revival sweep our land. May those in authority recognize that they are but " man" and that You O God are Soverign and all powerful. We give Thee back, that which we cannot keep. Our lives. And we will praise You throughout all eternity. Because You live and have conquered sin and death, we can face tomorrow unafraid. In Jesus Name, Amen....

Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side. Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain. Leave to thy God to order and provide; In every change, He faithful will remain. Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly Friend Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake To guide the future, as He has the past. Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake; All now mysterious shall be bright at last. Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below.
Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart, And all is darkened in the vale of tears, Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart, Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears. Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay From His own fullness all He takes away.
Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on When we shall be forever with the Lord. When disappointment, grief and fear are gone, Sorrow forgot, loves purest joys restored. Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past All safe and blessèd we shall meet at last.
Be still, my soul: begin the song of praise On earth, believing, to Thy Lord on high; Acknowledge Him in all thy words and ways, So shall He view thee with a well pleased eye. Be still, my soul: the Sun of life divine Through passing clouds shall but more brightly shine.
You have spoken the words of my heart! May God have mercy on us, and may we be repentant and humble, and receptive to the lessons He is teaching us in this dark hour.
I have read and been blessed by the prayers here and know the same Spirit which is in us all, for of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to him be the glory, forever, amen....Rom 11:36
then I had a strange thought....I'd like to read a prayer thread at DU....... or where would their prayer threads be? I want to read them too.....
A psalm for today
Psalm 73
Truly God is good to the upright,
to those who are pure in heart.
But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled,
my steps had well nigh slipped.
For I was envious of the arrogant,
when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
For they have no pangs;
their bodies are sound and sleek.
They are not in trouble as other men are;
they are not stricken like other men.
Therefore pride is their necklace;
violence covers them as a garment.
Their eyes swell out with fatness,
their hearts overflow with follies.
They scoff and speak with malice;
loftily they threaten oppression.
They set their mouths against the heavens,
and their tongue struts through the earth.
Therefore the people turn and praise them;
and find no fault in them.
And they say, "How can God know?
Is there knowledge in the Most High?"
Behold, these are the wicked; always at ease,
they increase in riches.
All in vain have I kept my heart clean
and washed my hands in innocence.
For all the day long I have been stricken,
and chastened every morning.
If I had said, "I will speak thus,"
I would have been untrue to the generation of thy children.
But when I thought how to understand this,
it seemed to me a wearisome task,
until I went into the sanctuary of God;
then I perceived their end.
Truly thou dost set them in slippery places;
thou dost make them fall to ruin.
How they are destroyed in a moment,
swept away utterly by terrors!
They are like a dream when one awakes,
on awaking you despise their phantoms.
When my soul was embittered,
when I was pricked in heart,
I was stupid and ignorant,
I was like a beast toward thee.
Nevertheless I am continually with thee;
thou dost hold my right hand.
Thou dost guide me with thy counsel,
and afterward thou wilt receive me to glory.
Whom have I in heaven but thee?
And there is nothing upon earth that I desire besides thee.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion for ever.
For lo, those who are far from thee shall perish;
thou dost put an end to those who are false to thee.
But for me it is good to be near God;
I have made the Lord GOD my refuge,
that I may tell of all thy works.
A large number of them are new-agers, and practice other spiritualities besides Christianity, although I have seen a few people there who do pray.
You'll want to screen your eyes from all the foul language though, if you go search for them.
I googled "election prayer thread" and there were 4 relevant links. The first 2 were democratic underground threads....the first called the official du election prayer thread.....
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=214x95350
the second was also from du making fun of our prayer thread, and the next two were our prayer threads.
They are not similar.
end of transmission.
OK Knit,
You are a blessing and the Word of the Lord heals...
"...until I went into the sanctuary of God..."
Now I am fine and hope to have a productive day as I know you will AND I am going to enjoy my knitting!
wow...amazing...being mocked because I was willing to pray about things the Lord says we should pray about: Doing his will and following his word...
(didn't think they'd mock prayer threads, but somehow, I am not surprised.)
