The Official Friday Silliness Thread Salutes Our Favorite TV/Movie Cartoons
Self & IMDB.com ^ | October 20, 2006 | Sully777

Posted on 10/20/2006 1:06:01 AM PDT by sully777

It's Friday and time for one of my favorite TV cartoons, Bugs Bunny's "Little Red Riding Rabbit." Sing along with Red as she skips towards Grandma's housefrom the cartoon:

The five o'clock whistle's on the blink/the whistle don't blow so whattaya think/my papa still works in the factory/ cuz he doesn't know what TIME...it happens to BE...

Nothing sweeps away the blues better than a good cartoon. Whether it is the manic humor of Tex Avery, the societal humor of South Park and The Simpsons, or the computer generated quirkiness of Jimmy Neutron, life seems to get better after ten minutes watching TV cartoons.

What are your favorites cartoons? What cartoons do you despise? And when will the Wile E. Coyote (super genius) ever catch the Road Runner? Don't be shy Post your photos and theme songs you recall from your childhood memories.

Have a great Friday and a great weekend!

If you want to link to an image from that site, here's whatcha do:

1. Do the usual right-click and then copy-image-location thing on the image you want.
2. Go to www.imageshack.us.
3. Upload the url of the image (NOT "file," but "URL"). Click "Host it!"
4. Post the image using the usual html stuff and the code in the "direct link to image" bar.
5. ???
6. Profit!

and

You knew the job was dangerous when you took it

The Super Chicken Theme Lyrics

When you find yourself in danger,
When you're threatened by a stranger,
When it looks like you will take a lickin',
(puk, puk, puk, puk)
There is someone waiting,
Who will hurry up and rescue you,
just Call for Super Chicken!
(puk, ack!)
Fred, if you're afraid you'll have to overlook it,
Besides you knew the job was dangerous when you took it
(puk, ack!)
He will drink his super sauce
And throw the bad guys for a loss
And he will bring them in alive and kickin'
(puk, puk, puk, puk)
There is one thing you should learn
When there is no one else to turn to
Call for Super Chicken!
(puk, puk, puk, puk)
Call for Super Chicken!
(puk, ack!)

And of course, Roger Ramjet!

Back in Jersey we watched the Japanese cartoons/shows on UHF-Channel 29 out of Philadelphia. We'd move the antenae around and bang the TV. Sometimes we would "volunteer" to stand next to the wall to get reception.

BTW, the broken antenae made great daggers to match the curtain rod swords and cardboard box shields. Ahh, the old days before violent video games.

You sound just like John Gibson. He was relishing the return of Kerry '08 for purely comedic reasons.

No problem. The site that generates the HA! HA! Guy images doesn't allow image linking due to bandwidth drain, so imageshack is now my bestest friend.

Chip&Dale, Darkwing Duck, Beavus&Butthead, Simpsons, and Ren&Stimpy were very popular cartoons in early 1990s college dorm rooms--if you could find a TV.

My son loved Darkwing Duck and HAD to have a costume for Christmas one year. We were stationed in Germany, and I had to try to pull one together useing things found at the base thrift store. Not too successful, but I DID find a purple jacket and a green turtleneck!

Just this year, when DWD came out on DVD, we HAD to get the set. He still loves watching it at 18. Guess that fits the college model!
