it should be yes...
It was absolutely pathetic.
First things first I don't blame Miami's players ON THE FIELD for protecting their teammates. That's what teammates are supposed to do.
FIU certainly started it. But Miami lost any and ALL sympathy when their players came off of the bench and onto the field, started stomping on guys with their cleats, started using their helmets as a weapon, etc.
And I REALLY hope that color commentator on Comcast gets fired.
FYI..listen to the 4 minute clip on Youtube..one of the announcers is actually egging the rioters on...
Cal didn't just lose to TN, but they got their eyes beat out. The actual score was not indicative of how the game really went. TN ceded two TD's to Cal in the final minutes of the game. Auburn is #4 after being beat by an unranked opponent? As usual, there is plenty to bitch about in the BCS.
The BCS is weighted to the Human polls, both the Coaches and the Harris Poll.
The computers love Auburn because of the Florida and LSU wins. but the computers don't have the influence the polls do.
I think title game is still wide open.
USC finishes the season with Oregon, Cal, Notre Dame and UCLA. They could very well lose at least one of those games.
Ohio State plays Michigan on Nov. 18.
So the Buckeyes are out. ;)
"The computers love Auburn because of the Florida and LSU wins. but the computers don't have the influence the polls do."
At some point even the computers are human-influenced (someone has to rank SOS). But I'm sick of seeing Notre Dame overranked. It happens so often it's become a situation where the rich get richer simply because of their influence on the voters.
it's all about the human polls in the BCS.
the one year that the computers were given too much influence, you ended up with Virginia Tech :)
OK, genius. So what you do do when Team A beats Team B, Team B beats Team C, and Team C beats Team A? How do you rank them?
Absolutely Auburn is way overrated. I am a Razorback fan and it Auburn is accurately ranked then the Hogs should be in the top ten.
West Virginia should be 3 or 4.
"..one of the announcers is actually egging the rioters on..."
You must mean this bozo clearly enjoying this fight. This was a post fight production in terms of voice over, I guess.
Melee in Miami!!! Canes brawl with FIU.

There is one other clip - different commentator, live.

Imagine this scenario... come Nov. 18, Michigan and Ohio State could be the only undefeateds left (minus Boise State and/or Rutgers, who have no shot at the title game). #2 Michigan beats #1 Ohio State, with the final BCS poll showing #1 Michigan, #2 Ohio State -- rematch in the championship game.
It wasn't the BCS, but the same happened in 96. FSU beat Florida, and they played again in the Sugar Bowl for the Championship.
And we all know how that turned out.
In the rare event that happens--and it IS a rare event--THAT is when human judgment should apply. But seeing a Tenn-Cal situation, when no such judgment call is necessary, the rule should be clear. It's not a personal insult to you or your team to say the rankings should follow logical rules, genius.
I disagree, with 1/3 of the total the Computers are able to drop Texas from fifth in the human polls to ninth when the computers are figured in, in other words the computers are ranking Texas an average of 17. Not that I care about Texas, but really there is too much disparity between them and the human polls and they certainly are affecting poll positions.
4th yesterday.
You must not follow college football much, if you think it's a rare event.
What's the Aggies strength of schedule? That's a big factor in BCS rankings.
I'm not sure, but the Texas Longhorns scheduled a ton of pansies AND Ohio State (which they lost, of course) and still are in the Top 10.
It may be because A&M lost to Texas Tech (although they were a ranked team at the time) but no longer are.
Texas probably gets hurt because they play teams like Sam Houston State and Rice. Sure, they beat OU handily, but were themselves handily beaten by OSU. Their schedule is such that if they run the table they will be sitting pretty because they start off so highly ranked, but if they get defeated they have a hard time climbing back into the National Championship mix.
