"courage of their convictions" -- how well I remember that phrase, I was raised on it by both my mother and my father, and I did my best to raise my son on it, too. It seems so odd today to read another saying it. It used to be the way life was, and the writer is right -- this abomination is the result of the marriage of the ME generation and the PC crowd. What an ugly child they gave birth to. For the first time in my almost 60 years I feel old. My silly, young-at-heart, play-baby life seems like dry dust. We must win or there will be no reason to be young-at-heart anymore.

Joan Foster can WRITE!
I saw her pithy posting to the N&O Editor's Blog, each was was as sharp as a knife, and they really stood out. When I saw this on Liestoppers, I started to read it quickly, then I started again, it needs to be read carefully, even savored. Then at the end I saw it was written by Joan. What a gem she is.
