I know that my comment may have sounded racist, but I truly thought someone actually posted statistics on one of the threads in this case early on. A real rapist is a menace to anybody, black or white, or as my dad used to say purple with pink stripes and yellow polka dots. It's just that I felt the comment about "waltzing" was a little over the top as was the comment about jocks and the public at large being in support of the "boys". It's about right and wrong -- not race, and I guess that's where the writer wound up. I'm somewhat hypersensitive to all this white bashing. I used to be hypersensitive to all the bashing in general, but being white and Christian lately is like having a target on your back.

You need not be concerned about appearing racist. We have discussed many topics here in the past 7 months that could be construed as racist by someone who is hypersensitive. What we are after here is the truth. In searching for truth lots of statistics have been posted. It is certainly proper to discuss facts/statistics in a case such as this.

You were right. Someone did post a link to some statistics about race and rape. It was a comparison of the rate of black-on-white and white-on-black gang rape.

I didn't think it sounded racist at all. It was commentary on an article written by a black person who addressed the race issues in the case from his perspective.

I agree with the rest of your post, too, especially, "...but being white and Christian lately is like having a target on your back."
