LOS ANGELES - Country singer Sara Evans on Thursday announced she was filing for divorce and quitting the “Dancing With the Stars” television competition.

Evans filed for divorce from Craig Schelske in Williamson County, Tenn., where she lives, according to a statement issued by Allen Brown, her representative at Sony BMG Music Entertainment.

"...Sara and Tony were my rooting interest this year..."

I was pulling for her, too. And for Emmitt Smiith, (being a Dallas Cowboys fan, ya see).

Last week when she danced and her heels caught her dress a couple of times, she looked awfull. Not for the dancing, but her face was telling a story that we are now hearing about. From what I gather, this is a recent thing with her soon-to-be-ex-husband. It looked as though Sara was about to break down. If her porn loving hubby has been verbally abusing her recently, that night when the judges laid some heavy critisism on her must have been tough to deal with, along with the behind the scenes events. And you notice that he was never shown in the audience. Very telling. I hate she's dropping out because she had a good night Tuesday. But it's understandable with the current situation. I wish her and her children well. This guy had one of the hottest ladies in country music and he through her away like used chewing gum.
And for what? I hope it was worth it for him. Her song "Cheating" will take on a whole new meaning. She'll probably drop it from her song list a while.

Well, yuck. The sensationalistic tabloid TV shows this afternoon are being so mean about Sara!

They have both (two shows - Insider and Inside Edition) gone on and on about how Sara "is supposed to represent family values in the media."

Then they showed the divorce papers and pix of Sara and her yucky hubby with President Bush, *while* talking about the allegations in the papers, thus trying to associate Sara and the Prez with that nastiness. Then they moved on to Delay, of course, and did the same thing.

It is very strange that they are acting like Sara was the one doing the things her husband was accused of doing - they're implying that she was leading a double life, living with that creep while "promoting family values."

Good heavens, can't they see that *she* is the one getting rid of HIM because of that stuff?

Read any Cheesecake thread here....they all make it clear that there is only ONE kind of woman that is special.

OK, I see the problem. Your statement isn't true. There are way more than a single kind of woman that is special. You can be special because you are gorgeous. You can be special because you're clever. Good with kids. Can cook well. Etc. I'm sure there is something special about you. You don't have to be a supermodel to be special. Do you feel better now?

i think the analogy is apt, but i like to think that i am a GOURMET meatloaf that is jazzed up with some extra special ingredients : ) and even cake goes stale after awhile ; )

I agree with you.....

I think what most are saying here is that many (most?) would take cake, even if it's stale. ;)

well there are skank men and skank women. not everyone is obsessed with cake. my hub is pretty satisfied with the gourmet meatloaf. i think you can tell pretty early on in a relationship where their tastes lie, and i would not want any part of anyone who is cake obsessed. and i consider it my job to train my daughters to identify and reject those serial cake tasters.

I hesitate to get too involved here, cuz I don't want to reveal too much personal info, but --

This is all about punishing men for women's insecurities, isn't it?

Sex is an appetite. As in your analogy, the problem there is if the hubby looks at you like meatloaf.

Now what if you had a hubby who just loved women -- including you? What if he looked at you like cake, and other women like Pizza?

Clearly, looking and imagining isn't cheating. Any more than fantasizing about killing your boss makes you a murderer.

I think our biggest problem in America is that we in the church have been talking about the cure so long we've let the world forget that it has a disease. If I ever preach a sermon, I'm going to use that line.

I preach sermons quite often (as a layperson), and while my church (Methodist) many times seems reluctant to call sin by its name, I'm pretty sure that most sinners don't need to be told they are sinners. They might need to be called on their rationalizations, but God has made himself known; we all know when we're doing wrong.

Don't take this wrongly, but Jesus saved his outrage for the self-righteous, and the moneychangers (both of whom put obstacles on people getting right with God). The sinners he interacted with knew they were sinners. His attitude toward them melted their hearts, and they turned to Him.

This is not to say he pretended sin didn't exist. But he treated it as a given and went forward from there. The people followed Him.

I'm the odd man out, but now that Sara's gone, Monique is my favorite. Her quickstep was amazing, and her waltz was the best of that night.

I'm pretty sure that most sinners don't need to be told they are sinners.

They DO occasionally need a refresher on what sin is, however - and it's usually the Christian ones who need that the most.

Her waltz was beautiful. She had tears in her eyes and couldn't speak when she finished - she knew how beautiful it was, from the inside.

Was the quickstep the night she had the yellow outfit on that had the wardrobe malfunction? She was good, but it wasn't as memorable to me as her waltz is.

I enjoy watching all of them - I could never, ever get up there and do what the "stars" do.

najida, are you familiar with the ABC television show "Ugly Betty"? I absolutely adore it. It's "revenge of the nerds" for women.

As for "special", lust (EROS love)is a dime a dozen. To be honest, a woman doesn't have to even be particularly attractive to inspire lust (it's an attitude thing). But a man really is only capable of giving both EROS and PHILIA love to one (and only one) woman. Now THAT's special.

Well, of COURSE Christians aren't immune. Sara's husband was a Regent graduate, and they often spoke together about faith.

I once read that at least 60% Christian men (even even evangelical men) view pornagraphy on a regular basis. It's just incredibly insidious, and I don't think women have any idea the struggles men have with this.

Heck, I still have to work to have a conversation with a woman while looking into her EYES the whole time. You have nature, AND original sin working against you 24/7 .

well i think the Christian singer is a little further along in his walk than the unfortunate Sara's husband. my point is that it is a problem across the board.
