I pretty much agree. But I don't think the producers are actually supporting anything....I think they are exploring lots of things from different angles. Which is what real Science Fiction is actually for. The questions you ask indicate that they have done their job.

It is speculative fiction, to be sure, but it would be as bad as the good guys tattooing all the aliens or using ovens to burn the enemy.
"Don't go there".
It is essentially a war story, despite the cosmic dressing. There is allegory and allusion being drawn to other conflicts.
