My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Even Sam Clemens talked about our weather a great deal. A couple of my favorite quotes are, "If you don't like New England weather, wait a minute" and "One day (hour?) I saw 37 different times of weather."

The (hour?) is mine; suddenly I forgot the exact quote, having heard on the police scanner that some roads in my immediate area are flooded.

It was a dark and stormy night
And Antonio said to his father,
Father, Tell me a story.

And his father began.

LOL! When I first got to the state of North Dakota I was informed that if I didn't like the weather, wait a minute because it will change. They were mostly right, especially in winter.

That Mark Twain quote went far, indeed. I have heard it for other locations as well.

It's more satisfying discussing the weather than talking about the boring chores I planned for today.

When we begged for a story and she wasn't in the mood, Mom would tell us that one till we begged her to stop. LOL!

I have never been able to find the origin of "Dark & stormy night".

I found a post by a Brit who related a similar story his parents used to tell him in the 50s and I've found several later authors who lay claim to it, the bastids.

For some unknown reason I think of Poe, I have no idea other than that, never research it. Too, I think of Snoopy.;)

If I recall my 'research' right, it was mentioned in a Snoopy strip!

But is not circular prose. Where's Antonio and his grandfather?

Plu, look at this! Check out this passage:

It was a dark and stormy night, And we were all seated around the campfire,
When the leader got up and he said,
"Johnny, tell us a story!"
So Johnny got up and he said,
"It was a dark and stormy night,
And we were all seated around the campfire,
When the leader got up and he said,
"Johnny, tell us a story,
So Johnny got up and he said.

This is where it's from Continue The Story: It Was a Dark and Stormy night

Yes, I remember this thread. It was exciting, too bad it was interrupted by the deployment of one of the authors.

To: Lady Jag; Old Sarge

Sure, it was Old Sarge, he did the largest share of writing.

I saw that part where sarge wrote a lot, but didn't mention it because it's irrelevant to my quest.
