DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- The mother of a boy abducted 24 years ago said she's bewildered by two photographs left at her front door, apparently showing her son and two other children bound and gagged.

About a year after Johnny Gosch was abducted, another DM paper boy, by the last name of Martin, also disappeared. He has never been heard from, either. However it is always Gosch that gets the notoriety.
I hope I didn't open a can of worms with that post--I seriously know nothing about Jeff Gannon being a freeper and in no way wanted to stir up controversy.
Gannon was born in 57 - puts him at 49ish - the missing person would be about 36 or so if he was 12 when he went missing and it's been 24 years

This says Gannon had another name:
James Dale Guckert (1957) worked under the pseudonym Jeff Gannon as a White House reporter between 2003 and 2005, representing Talon News.
So you're saying you've seen stuff on the web that Jeff Gannon might be this kid who was kidnapped? Wouldn't that be something.

I think it did just happen or she wouldn't have said that they've had the photos for 24 years. He was kidnapped in 1982.

Well, yes I have--I googled Johnny Grosh's name because I had never heard of this abduction and in several of the links there was an indication that some people think they are the same. The mom said in one article that on some days she thinks Jeff Gannon IS her son, and some days she doesnt'. So it sounds like she's pretty confused.
That's quite a story.
Oh my goodness. I had no idea. She should contact Jeff Gannon and ask where he grew up and see if she can't set her mind at ease.
