That was so silly when they came out with all those. They were common words and phrases, either already in use or put into the popular vernacular after the movies.

I hadn't seen half of them, but knew the terms used and heard others use them. The point they were making was then to say "the Ramsesy don't watch these kinds of movies." *Why, John slept through 'Speed' on the plane.*

The only one that I think would be pertinent was the one that Gaston or Cox mentioned when Det. Arndt showed them all the ransom note and asked for their opinions.

One of them, Gaston, I believe, had seen the movie the night before, when he was sleeping on the sofa at the Whites after the party guests had gone home. It was "Nick of Time" and would have been familiar because it was top of mind from the night before.

No one can have a dozen different movies "top of mind" at the same time.

I agree with you. It's somewhat interesting, but quite a reach to say the quotes came from the various movies.

Kidnapping movies released in theaters before 12/25/96

Nick of Time (1995)
US Theatrical Release Date: November 22, 1995
Plot Synopsis: Gene Watson arrives home in Los Angeles, after attending his ex-wife's funeral, with his daughter. Soon, his daughter is kidnapped. He is given a gun, and the picture and itinerary of a person, and told that if he hasn't killed that person in one hour and fifteen minutes, his daughter will be killed. We then follow him through that time.

Fargo (1996)
US Theatrical Release Date: March 8, 1996
Plot Synopsis: Jerry Lundegaard is in a financial jam and, out of desperation, comes up with a plan to hire someone to kidnap his wife and demand ransom from her wealthy father, to be secretly split between Jerry and the perpetrators. Jerry, who is not the most astute of individuals, hires a couple of real losers from the frozen northern reaches of Fargo, North Dakota for the job. Then things begin to slip from bad to worse as Jerry helplessly watches on.

I will "try" to compile a list of these over the next week.
