I'm not saying that it was in any way a touniquet...only that it might have been the lightbulb that made Karr think of it. It goes to his background...Say Red Cross certified rather than a military background.

Man says he might have seen Karr in '96

Boulder District Attorney investigator Mark Spray has contacted a man who believes he could have encountered the JonBenet Ramsey murder suspect on a bus in the early morning hours of Dec. 26, 1996. Daniel Pride, now of Portsmouth, N.H., said he was at the downtown bus station in Boulder sometime shortly after 12:30 a.m. when a man arrived, behaving strangely and bearing a resemblance to John Mark Karr, arrested last week in the case.

Malvo and the War Debate (ZOT!!! Why not to go off antipsychotic meds without a doctors guidance)

I am curious why none of the media covers the most important aspect of the Malvo shootings. If you look at Newspapers on the dates when the shootings are underway you discover something I find quite interesting. The shootings begin to dominate the news the day before the debate on the Iraq war starts and they catch them the day after the declaration of war??? If you ask most people "do you remember the debate about starting the second Iraq war", they will all answer "yes of course". But if you followup with the question "name one point in the debate, a speech by a Senator or where their senator stood", nada.
Almost no one noticed any aspect of the most important debate in the last 50 years?
And interesting and odd fact. No one has done a story on what the real impact of the shootings were. It was to virtually eliminate the war debate from the media.
The special forces background of the senior member of the pair also seems to get short shrift.
Smells a little fishy to me based on what little I know about it. At minimum its a very significant part of the story, i.e. that a common murderer had such an impact on our political process. Why is nobody covering this obvious fact?

Beyond the fact that the blood is not the result of drainage, there are several reasons why the blow had to occur while she was alive and not after death:
1.) Early brain swelling was already evident according to the autopsy (description of gyri)
2.) the hemorrhaging itself
3.) contusions on the right cerebral cortex
4.) contusions on the scalp
So, as far as I can tell, it seems pretty obvious she was alive when the head trauma occured. From everything I've seen all the experts who have spoken on it seem to agree that she was alive when the blow occured.
BTW
The head wound information is in contrast to the strangulation information, which does not definitively tell us, IMO, that the strangulation occured while she was alive. The petechial hemorrhaging on her skin can itself be due to head trauma and the 'dead ringer' for strangulation, petechial hemorrhaging of the whites of the eyes, was not present, according to the autopsy. The violence of the strangulation, by itself, does not speak to whether or not she was alive or dead when it occured.
Wow, what a catch! Hopefully, the Boulder DA will receive an email with the link to this?
Mr. Pride may be a bit fascinated with high profile cases, no?
I would wager to bet the DA will see this. ;)

So you were suggesting it was done by someone with a Red Cross or First Aid type background, but it was not USED as a tourniquet and you were not remotely trying to say it was...thanks for the clarification. I was initally perplexed by your post.
More Dan Pride posts, (same guy?):

I would say there is a 99.999% chance it is the same guy. I would also say there is a 100% chance that the Boulder DA has been embarassed by taking this guy seriously.
I wonder if Fox News and all the other news agencies are aware of it?

Scroll down to the JonBenet links.
I can't figure out how this guy ties the Ramsey murder with Solomon's Gate?? At the bottom of the page he links his archeological interests with "coincidences"???
Bizarre dude. Almost as weird as Karr.

This is awful to suggest, but from the looks of that devise it seems possible that she could have been hung from something with it, perhaps after death to allow the killer to look at what he had done.
Are you certain there was no petechial hemoraging in the whites of the eyes? That is not what I gathered from the description of the petechial hemmoraging. In another area of the autopsy, the coroner does describe the eyes as being white, but this is the area where she is describing the general health of the child. The brain is also described as being unremarkable, and we know there was trauma there. I read that and took it to mean that JonBenet's general health was good before the attack. If she had described the whites of the eyes as being yellow, that would have indicated liver problems and poor health at the time of death.
From his original account:
"The individual I asked for a cigarette light that night was 35 to 50 years old, emaciated, pot bellied, thin, about 5'11"
In 1996 Karr would have only been 31, but "pot bellied, thin"?
I have more doubts about this character than I do Karr. Where do these whack jobs come from?
Urgent FreepMail!
Yikes, this guy gives me the creeps. Would a bus company really be as casual about their schedules as his account seems to suggest?
where can I upload a file that anyone can download.
Isn't there a free and quick filing sharing website out there that I really don't have to register for?
You may be right. I can only go on how I'm reading it. The relevant quote is "the sclerae are white" (whites of the eyes). I would find it remarkable that if there were petechial hemorrhaging of the whites of the eyes, given it's investigative significance, that he would not have mentioned that. So, I think it very unlikely there was any. Maybe, for some reason, he just neglected to mention it.
I'm interested in where you gathered that there was petechial hemorrhaging in the whites of the eyes b/c I could find no reference to that at all. I could have missed something, but I didn't see it.
